Using today's modern technology can help you spend less and save money during these tough times. Given the state of the economy, people are looking to save money any way they can. While technology may seem like an expense, there are actually several ways in which using technology can help you save money.

Shop Online

As more merchants open online stores they know they've got to offer the best prices and services to stay afloat. Shopping online allows you to compare prices of items from individual retailers getting you the best deal.

Buy Used

When a used item will work as well as a new one go to sites such as Craig's List or Freecycle to buy items cheap or better yet get them for FREE!

Print Coupons

Go to coupon saving sites and print out coupons. On Google I typed in "printable coupons for groceries" and got 11,000,000 results. You're sure to find something you can use.

Pay Online

Pay bills online to avoid check fees, postage, time and gas. Better yet with your reoccurring bills have them directly deducted for your savings or checking account. This way you will never have to worry about a late pay fee.

Play Online

Don't dish out the cash for expensive video game systems! Play free games online, there are hundreds of sites to try.

Take Digital Pictures

Use a digital camera instead of a film camera for photos and only print out the truly memorable moments! The rest can be saved to your hard drive or onto a disk.

Ditch The Landline

Not quite ready to give up your home phone? Check out new products such as Magic Jack. The cost is minimal compared to a traditional phone line and the technology continues to improve.

Turn On The GPS

Use your GPS to save both gas and time. Usually it's better to set your GPS to the quickest route preference. Stetting it to the direct route may take you through busy city streets. Set at quickest route you miss the stop and go traffic saving you gas and time. If you're like me your GPS will also keep you from getting lost.

I know my prices on my "standard" cadre of goods, so I can recognize a good deal when I see one, and stock up a bit. Also, I use my freezer!
