On Page SEO
Learn how to implement keyword throughout your page content!
On-page SEO is when you implement the keywords that you want your various web pages to rank for. It's best to align 1-3 common keywords (called "primary keywords") with each of your pages. Once you've done that (preferably in a spreadsheet), use these tips to implement the keywords:
- Step 1: Plug your keywords into your meta tags: meta-title, meta-description, meta-keywords.
- Step 2: Use your keywords in the title of your page, and make the title both compelling and different from the meta-title.
- Step 3: Use your keywords in subheadings (, , etc.) throughout the page content in order to break up the paragraphs.
- Step 4: Use your keywords in the paragraph content.
- Step 5: Use your keywors in the "alt attribute" for images you place on the page.
- Step 6: Use variations of your keywords, write naturally (for users), and ensure you didn't overuse your keywords.
Link Building
Learn how to build links to your website & improve search rankings!
Building links to your website is at least 50% of the battle in ranking higher in search engines. What you want are one-way inbound links that use your keywords as the anchor text for the link. It can be difficult to learn how to do this, but here's some quick tips:
- Find DoFollow Blogs - When browsing blogs, look for blogs that have the "U Comment I Follow" badge. These blogs will give you "dofollow" links back to your site within comments. As long as you contribute to the discussion, and there are other comments posted, your comments should be published.
- Build .edu & .gov Links - This can be more difficult, as many .edu/.gov blogs have strict moderation, but read this article and try it out for yourself. You want to ensure that you install a SEO Toolbar that can check for "nofollow" links so that you locate .edu/.gov blogs with "dofollow" comments enabled.
- Submit your site to directories including DMOZ and niche directories.
- Use social media sites like Twitter, Stumble Upon, Google+, PinInterest and more to build links
