Selecting the right aftershave
The choice of aftershave is not just for the purpose of smelling good, it is also an antiseptic which soothes the pain from nicks and cuts of the razor blade. The other factors involved in How To Select A Great Aftershave are more a matter of personal preference. Here are some other points to take into consideration.
A nice clean shave
When a person starts to shave, they apply warm water to the skin which opens the pores and allows the hair roots to relax and the follicles stands up uniformly. This is part of what it takes to get a clean close shave which is smooth to the touch. Once the person is finished using the razor, and washes off any shaving cream, aftershave is applied to disinfect any nicks, and the cool temperature closes up the pores of the skin.
Liquid aftershaves
A liquid aftershave dries pretty quickly after application, and other than a possible scent there is little evidence that it was ever used. Some people prefer not to use an additional cologne, if they like the smell of the aftershave. By mixing different products they can clash by the end of the day, and some of the results can cause other people to have headaches.
Gels and creams
There are gels and creams which can be used as aftershave, and because they are of a thicker consistency they take longer to evaporate as they are massaged into the skin. These products can also contain additional skin conditioning ingredients which not only provide the medicinal properties for tiny cuts, but also promote healthier skin.
Aftershave balms and moisturers
Balms and moisturizers are found in some products which can be all natural ingredients. Different herbs and spices are known to have an excellent ability to promote good skin condition. Using these products can be very beneficial while also providing a wonderful scent which others will find most attractive if not terribly over done.
The aroma
It should also smells good, and should continue to do so for the entire day. If you decide to get an additional product which is only a cologne, choose something that is not overpowering, but is appealing to others. Remember that a good aftershave or cologne should only be noticed when in close proximity to other people. Use them very sparingly so that neither you or the people around you end up with a headache from that much exposure to the aroma.
