How has private selling changed?
Gone are the days when we wanted to sell something and the only option we had was to put a scruffy note up in the local shop window with our phone number for all to see. Now that the whole world is online, it's so easy to sell just about absolutely anything. Instead of waiting months in the hope that someone in our hometown would see our scruffy little advert, now we can access the whole nation thanks to classified ad sites, a great postal system and selling and auction sites like eBay and Amazon.
How to sell your unwanted items
To get rid of your unwanted shoes, clothes, toys and electronic items by selling them online is usually fairly easy and doesn't cost much at all. There is always somebody somewhere looking for a bargain.
Make sure that when you list your items for sale you put them in the right category for someone to find. For example if you are selling a hamster cage, it will sell quicker if it's in the pet section rather than the furniture section of a selling website. It's also a good idea to include a picture of the item you are selling. If you don't people may just ignore your advert, or at best you will get a tonne of emails asking you to send over a picture. If you are selling furniture, it's a good idea to include measurements of the furniture too - people usually want to know height, width and depth.

Be negotiable
Most people that want to sell something will decide a price that they want to achieve, and then advertise at a slightly high price. This is because buyers like to haggle down the cost of an item to get the best possible deal. Be prepared for this. If you want to get £50 for your bike, advertise it at £60-£70 and expect people to offer you less, at which point you can tell them you will accept £50. Remember that some selling sites take a small commission from your sale, so don't forget this will be taken off the final amount of money that reaches your pocket after the sale. Selling your house online
However, sometimes selling items online rather than offline can save you money in fees. If you need an inexpensive house move, and want to avoid costly estate agents fees, then the idea of sell house online will appeal to you very much. In order to achieve a professional looking profile for your property, look for a high quality online estate agent. Because they don't have high street offices, the online estate agents can offer much lower fees for selling your house, but can also provide the same quality professional service such as good photographs of your home, professional descriptions of the property and marketing your home details to a large mailing list of potential buyers. All you need to do to make sure your house sells is to keep it well maintained and tidy for viewings, and be friendly and helpful to anyone that visits.
