What Is The Best Way To Speed Up Your Metabolism?

The best way to improve the speed of your metabolism is to increase the amount of lean muscle mass in your body. To understand why this is, consider a couple differences between fat and lean muscle tissue.

Your fat cells require no energy to maintain. They simply sit there, waiting for more fat to be deposited and expanding more and more. You do not actually create new fat cells; you just increase their size by overeating. No energy is burned off by keeping this extra fat in your body, it is merely a back up supply of energy just in case food were suddenly to become scarce and you need to survive.

Muscles Speed Up Metabolism?

Muscle on the other hand requires calories to maintain. The more lean muscle mass your body contains the more calories you will burn even while sleeping or sitting in front of the TV. Unlike fat cells, your muscles actually have an important role for your body's functioning. When you exercise, it is the muscles that create and release enzymes which burn off fat. The higher your workout intensity, the more enzymes are released and the more fat you will burn off.

Given all that, the most effective way to boost your metabolism is to increase the amount of muscle in your body. Your body will function more efficiently with increased amounts of lean mass, and you can turn your body into a fat eating machine. As you gain muscle and shrink your fat cells your metabolism will skyrocket.

So now you want to know how to speed up your metabolism and create new muscle mass?

Weight lifting and strength training come in a variety of forms, and the best way is to mix it up a bit and experiment until you find what you enjoy the most. Women do not need to worry about getting too big or looking bulky like a man, because it is extremely hard to make your body look that way unless you are deliberately trying to do so.

If you choose weightlifting you will probably want to get a trainer, even if it is just for a couple sessions to learn your way around the equipment and learn proper technique so you do not end up injured. Remember never to work the same muscle groups two days in a row; you will need time for the muscle to recover some so you don't end up hurt.

Doesn't Have To Cost You A Ton

Start To Speed Up Your Metabolism

If you don't have access to a gym or are intimidated by the big machinery, you can get a good strength training workout right in your own living room. Spend a few bucks on a cheap pair of dumbbells, maybe even a lighter and heavier set, or a good set of resistance bands. An exercise ball is also a good investment because a lot of floor work can be done propped on the ball for a more comfortable workout. There are also a lot of moves that can be done only on the ball.

Take a quick search online and you will find tons of free workout moves that will tone and tighten your muscles and get you on your way to a pumping metabolism. Combining strength moves with bursts of cardio makes for an extra fat burning workout that will really get your blood pumping and give your metabolic rate a boost for hours to come.

If you can start eating several small meals throughout the day along with your workouts, that will help keep your metabolism from dropping during the day so you continue to burn more calories as you go about your everyday routines.
