Squid-Dog Guide: How To Teach Your Dog To Sing

The Lesson: Sing

1. First, find out what makes your dog bark or sing. Some dogs howl when they see fire/flame (try the lighter), some dogs howl during storms (but you can't control this), some dogs will sing while you play a musical instrument, or some dogs will 'sing' with you!

2. Once you find out what makes your dog sing, keep this handy, guitar or what instrument you play (or you can sing), and treats.

3. Encourage your dog, "Sing!" Turn on the lighter or whatever works (my buds usually sing when they hear car sirens - eerie), when he starts singing, praise (good dog), give treat, pet.

4. When he gets the hang of the command "Sing" you can play an instrument and sing with him every time. Soon he'll be on tour with you singing the blues or carols! Enjoy!

Note:

• Not all dogs get into the singing act (understand this). Mostly hounds and huskies like the trade.
• If you're patient, you might find what tickles your dog's singing bones. Then be extra patient with your show time practice sessions. It takes time for some, while comes naturally for others.
