What is the Difference Between a Crow and Raven?

Have you ever seen a bird that is all black and wondered whether it was a Crow or a Raven? There are differences. I know when we are driving around I am always seeing these birds, but I used to have a hard time telling the difference between a Crow and a Raven. For instance, the bird in this picture is a Carrion crow.

Here are some tips in telling the difference between a Crow and a Raven.

The Bird's Size

A Crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos) is 17 to 21 inches. A Crow's wingspan is 33 to 39 inches. A Crow weighs 11.15 to 21.89 ounces. A Raven (Corvus corax) is 22 to 27 inches. A Raven weighs 24.32 to 57.36 ounces. A Raven's wingspan is 46 inches. The Raven is larger than a Crow.
