In an unusual twist, Darth Vader, the Apprentice and Yoda, characters from the Star Wars universe, are the playable guest characters. The Star Wars guest characters, Darth Vader, Yoda and The Apprentice will all feature unique, Force-based styles.
So far, SoulCalibur IV has received mainly positive reviews from most media outlets. It has been considered less broken and more competition-worthy than its predecessor, Soulcalibur III; however, a lot of criticism has been given about the Star Wars character "The Apprentice", as he is considered too powerful and has Air Combos which many consider "cheap".
