How to Use the Text List Module
This page is designed to help those at the beginning of their Squidoo online writing career. If you don't know about this content writing site, you'll find it explained (and how you too can make money online,) later on. Squidoo created a group called RocketSquids to help newbies to develop their skills and build their portfolio of work. I am lucky enough to be one of the mentors picked to share my tips on how to create great webpages. This page is about how to add and use the Text List Module. I hope you find this information helpful. Be sure to take the poll and leave a review at the end.

Adding a list to your webpage
using the text list module
There are times when you want to break up the text on a page, or perhaps you want to explain things in a concise way, that is where the best way to do it is with a list.A list keeps things tight, and makes it easy for your reader to find the exact information they need, where they need it.
The experience of reading online is completely different to reading a book in that reader attention to this visual form is much shorter. Faced with screeds of unbroken text, someone browsing the net will quickly click the BACK button. Break it up with an informative list and you will keep his/her attention longer.
When they introduced the text list module, I jumped for joy. Being slightly HMTL challenged (or lazy!) I found it difficult to create a list where I wanted one before - all those codes - yikes.
We are all probably familiar with bullet lists and how useful they are. The text module makes it easy to create them without knowing HMTL. - read on to find out how. Below you will find examples of the different numbering/bulleting styles. In the normal course of things I wouldn't use more than 1 or 2 lists per page - after all too many is as bad as too much unbroken text for a reader - but just for this one tutorial I am using all the options available just to let you see them in use.
Adding a bullet list
how to add a text list module
This list is an example to a numbered list available with the text list module. I've kinda exaggerated it all just to make a point.
- When you start to create you webpage masterpiece, first you need to add the modules or boxes you want included. You can add them (or delete them) at any point during the creation process and of course, you can always come back and add one after it if published too so there is no limit.
- To add a text module - look to the sidebar under WORKSHOP TOOLS
- Go to ADD MODULES
- By default, Squidoo will display some popular modules, but go to the bottom of the list and click on b>. That will take you into a new window with all the modules that are available for you to use.
- As it happens, the TEXT LIST module is right there on the front page so you don't have to look any further. Click on that icon and on the left hand side you will see it has been to a box named YOU'VE ADDED. Click on DONE ADDING at the bottom of the box and it will take you back to your workshop where you will find it has been added to the bottom of your page.
- Use the SORT MODULE option to move the text list box to where you want it to appear on your page.
- If you haven't already done so - create a list of your favorite modules, the ones you used most often so you don't have to keep going back to BROWSE ALL MODULES I'll explain how to do that in another list.
An easy short-cut to creating a great webpage
Creating a 'favorite modules' list
This is an example of a bulleted list available with the text list option. As you can see it doesn't have numbers to draw attention to it. I know here I am using the list as a step-by-step guide so it probably would be better with numbers, but this is only for illustration. When you are not creating a step-by-step list or a top 10 list or whatever, a bullet is just fine. It is entirely up to you.
Time is always important when you are writing online so any short-cuts you find are worth their weight in gold - literally. One short cut that has proved invaluable is the ability to create a FAVORITE MODULES list. In the WOEKSHOP TOOLS under ADD MODULES you have 4 options, POPULAR, PROFITABLE, FAVORITES and TEMPLATES - the last is only for GiantSquids so don't worry about that now.
The first 2 contain module options that Squidoo has added as suggestions you might like to use when making up your page. The 3rd is the one you might find most useful - here you can have listed all those modules you use frequently - by clicking on that, you have an instant list that you can pick from. Here's how to create your own FAVORITE MODULES list.

- At the bottom of that box click on BROWSE ALL MODULES which will open in a new window.
- On the right hand side click on ALL MODULES
- Go through the list and click on each one you will find useful. Later I've included a list of my own personal favorites to give you some ideas.
- Each one you have added will appear in the box on the left hand side labeled YOU'VE ADDED At the top of that box click on +FAVES.
- A new box will appear - on one side it show a list of any modules you have already added to a favorites list on the other, a list of NEW FAVES TO ADD.
- You'll see that all the module options you have picked appear with a little blank box beside it - click all of those then click UPDATE FAVES and it will show you the list of your favorite modules.
- Click on DONE ADDING if you want to add them to the page you are working on - they will get added to the bottom of the page - OR if you are just creating your FAVES list just click on CANCEL - this will take you back to your workshop - you will have created a FAVES list but you won't have added any new modules to the page you are working on.
Useful boxes to include on a webpage
these are some of my personal favorite modules I use a lot
This is an example of a text list without any numbers or bullet marks. It is best used when you just want a bear list without qualifications. Use sparingly and for short lists, as you can see it is pretty boring for a long list.

How to earn money by writing online
web content
This is an example of how to use the LARGE NUMBERS. My personal favorite! It looks classy and is easy to read.
Squidoo is a content writing site that pays you for writing about things you love. You join FREE with an easy-t0-fill in form and an email address. Once you have created your account, you are able to create webpages, each with a unique perspective. There is no limit to how many pages - they call them lenses on Squidoo - you can make and each has the potential to earn money.

Once you have created your account, you are able to create webpages, each with a unique perspective. There is no limit to how many pages - they call them lenses on Squidoo - you can make and each has the potential to earn money.
You can earn money in several ways:
-
1By ranking in the top 85,000 lenses on Squidoo.
There are several different levels or tiers that Squidoo pages are ranked in. The top 3 tiers payout a % of the revenue Squidoo earns. The higher the ranking the better the payout.
Tier 1 = those lenses ranked 1-2000
Tier 2 = those lenses ranked 2001-10000
Tier 3 = those lenses ranked 10001-85000 -
2Via the Amazon spotlight and Amazon modules built into Squidoo.
If you fill in these modules - you earn a % of any sales made through them. The revenue goes first to the Squidoo Amazon affiliate account and you get a share of that.
Some people do extremely well with these. -
3Via the Ebay module built into Squidoo.
Ebay is similar to using the Amazon module. -
4Via the Zazzle module built into Squidoo.
If you have a Zazzle account you can enter your own products for sale here and you can also earn money from Zazzle from any referrals you make with this that result in a sale. -
5Affiliate marketing. Presently you can use Squidoo as vehicle for any product you have an affiliate membership for with the huge proviso that it isn't spammy.
The most common one to use is Amazon - this is different from the Squidoo Amazon modules in that you create them in a text module using your own Amazon ID so the reader is taken to that page with your affiliate ID tag. So your payment comes to you from Amazon not Squidoo - for some people this is a bigger % than the first option. Personally I tend to mix them up. for an example you might like to see my page: " Tahitian Pearl Jewelry"
Remember, the Squidoo Amazon module is only valid for Amazon.com, if like me, you live in the UK or elsewhere you might want to include some links to your own country's Amazon. You do need to have a valid Amazon affiliate ID for that country.
