Denim is a bit of a hit or miss. Some people look great wearing denim jackets, others (most), more often than not, slip into an ill-fitting pair of denim jeans. This lens is all about teaching you on how to wear denim (girls & guys) and look good while you're at it.
I will also be covering some of the basic styles, trends and dare I say, fads in the world of denim jeans.
Hope you'll find this useful as much as I did. :)

How To Wear Denim Jeans
"The workhorse of the closet deserves better treatment."
OMG! Wardrobe malfunction alert!Don't be a fashion victim but don't be a fashion hero either. With so many styles to choose from and so little time, finding exactly what each type of jeans works for you is uber important. A good fitting jeans is indeed the workhorse of any closet and with my super awesome guide to denim jeans below, you'll be able to find one that suits you.
Baggy Jeans
Everybody knows what baggy jeans are and almost everyone I know has been through a phase of baggy jeans. Long associated with rap and hip hop, baggy jeans are a must have for any teenage urban dwelling teen. Complete the look with a pair of Timberland Boots and a baggy graphic t-shirt.
Bootcut Jeans
Boot-cut jeans are easy-peasy to identify. They are probably the most common jeans worn by anyone between the age of 18 to 45. For women, they are tapered at the knee with a slight widening or flare at the ankle to accommodate a boot. For men, they are loose and wide all the way down. Boot-cut jeans are very flattering as they balance out most figures. If you are a bit heavy on top a boot cut with have you looking slim in no time. However, it is my opinion that guys with skinny legs should not wear boot cut jeans as it will just make you look shapeless.
Boyfriend Jeans
This one is for the ladies only. Boyfriend jeans is essentially a 'borrowed' look. The point is Boyfriend jeans are meant to be rolled up at the bottom so that the cuff sits just above the ankle. Why? Because your BF is *supposed* to be taller than you right? How sexist I know but let's move on. This style is meant to sit low on the hips and it works on both curvy and straight bodies. Consider what you are going to pair with your Boyfriend jeans. it's best to stick with slim-fitting tops and girly footwear.
Carpenter Jeans
Most carpenter jeans are made for function, not fashion, and are usually of a softer denim than the original utilitarian jeans, with a looser fit. Talk about function over form. However, as the world of fashion goes, what's not cool inexorably becomes cool (sooner or later!). This can be seen as carpenter jeans were quite popular in the late 90s and early 2000s Hip-hop scene especially those by the Tommy Hilfiger brand who sported their trademark logo on the hammer loop.
Flared Jeans
If the likes of Rick Astley and Bananarama gets your groove on, then Flared Jeans a.k.a Bell Bottoms are for you! Flared jeans will suit almost everyone, slim or curvy, and will look especially good if you're tall. Complete the look with a fitted blazer or boob tube.
Cropped Jeans
Cropped Jeans are made of stretch denim or canvas which delivers a particularly flattering fit. A fashionable cropped length makes Cropped Jeans equally ideal with both pumps and heels. You can dress Cropped Jeans up with some gorgeous heels for a night out or pair Cropped Jeans with some knee high boots for everyday wear in winter. Cropped Jeans are still a big trend and they look fab in the evening teamed with strappy sandals, or save them for summer and wear them with flipflops and a vest for a look that'll never go out of style.
Skinny Jeans
Skinny Jeans are one of the hottest trends of the moment and are my absolute favs! Style icons Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham have both been spotted wearing low waisted Skinny Jeans. There are Skinny Jeans that help lift and shape your bottom through to mid-waisted boot cut Skinny Jeans which lengthens legs. Skinny Jeans are smart enough to be worn for work with the right shoes (kitten heels or smart flats) and will add much-needed curves to a more boyish figure. There seems to be a growing trend with emos as well, especially for the guys. Think black skinnies with converse.
Hipster Jeans
Not to be confused with Baggy Jeans, Hipster Jeans provide a perfect foundation for a cool, summer wardrobe. Hipster Jeans are designed to suit any figure and cling in all the right places for any body shape. Hipster Jeans are often stretched to fit in the way of a skinny jeans. It gives you all the womanly curves in denim and can be really sexy paired with high heels!
