Are you a lover or a fighter? Many people choose to be lovers because being a fighter is an art more than a science. Since there are so many different variables when in a street fight you must always be ready for anything at anytime and I am also talking about at the extreme edges of danger. If you are a fighter or are working on becoming one it is best to choose competitive fighting and stay away from the street fighting. Competitive fighting is much more predictable than street fighting and when fighting in a cage or ring you always have someone on your side with you at all times, the referee who is watching your back.Street fighting is sometimes unavoidable. When it becomes an unavoidable situation then it is time to stop looking for ways to fix the situation and start focusing on ultimate aggression. You must be the one to attack first. When confronted with a more aggressive opponent many ametuer fighters will find a way to back down rather than fight. But when the fight is on it is best to use one of these two strategies. First, you can use the ninja strategy and attack when your opponent isn't ready. Second, you can attack where your opponent isn't ready.
Attacking When You Opponent Isn't Ready.
This surprise attack is simply meant to give you the upper hand right from the beginning. Hopefully this is all you will need to finish and win the fight. Now how do you do this, from the beginning when this confrontation started you will have studied your opponent and now you understand how they shift their weight. Some people bounce back and forth from one leg to the other never maintaining balance. While some fighters like experienced wrestlers will never completely put all their weight on one leg thus always maintaining balance. If your opponent is like the first example and is alway shifting their weight then this will be easy. When you opponent goes to shift their weight the next time immediately go in for your first move. This will give you at least a 1/4 second time advantage since they have to wait for their weight to complete the switch only then can they start moving to take on your attack.
Attacking Where Your opponent Isn't Ready.
One of the best was to do this is known as the "Glasgow Kiss" which is headbutting your opponent fast and hard. The top of your forehead should come down across his nose and face. Don't get to caught up in precision with this movement just do it with lots of power. Once this has made contact you will have a second or two before your opponents eyes clear up from the water in their eyes. This is a fantastic move for self defense since it keeps both the hands free in case your opponent has a weapon which you can grab and pull away while they are focused on the pain of their broken nose.
The Best Kicks For Street Fighting.
Don't get fancy here if you are going to throw any kicks they must be powerful and extremely quick. There is no time to wind up and do a full movement kick it has to be straight out and back and done with the most power you can generate. The two kicks best for fighting are the basic round kick and the front snap kick. Never attempt to kick to the head in a street fight. This takes entirely to much time and gives you opponents time to move out of the way and then swipe you base leg and get you in a situation where they have the upper hand.
Watch Video of Street Fighting.
Not for the grim blood and violent nature of these videos but to get an idea of how people react and the speed at which it escalates. Look for ways in which each fighter could have avoided getting into the fight in the first place, and what you might do differently. Although I don't consider Kimbo Slice's fight videos to be true street fighting since they are all setup so that Kimbo can trade punches with his opponent, he will show you the mental edge he has. If you study his video clips you notice that he always sticks with what he know best and that is trading punches. The problem is that his opponents aren't better skilled at Jiu Jitsu and take him to the ground. When an opponent has an advantage of weight it is always best to neutralize that advantage by taking them off their feet. On the ground size doesn't matter.
