thanks for your kindly advice, I'll take more time on creating a strong lens

This sounds like a great idea to get some honest feedback on your lens. Often when you are so involved in creating your own lens, it would be nice to get an objective view from someone else.

  • SaintFrantic Oct 13, 2011 @ 10:14 am | delete
We love critiques they show you what your weak points are.So you can improve them. Thanks for this Lens

This sounds like what I remember of the Toastmasters' critique sandwich - with the criticism between two compliments or statements of recognition.
  • RebeccaE Sep 20, 2011 @ 12:11 pm | delete
thanks for this. I think I shall have to go there with my "worst" and find out hwo to give it my Best.
  • ikari1976 Oct 27, 2011 @ 1:11 pm | delete

    Dear Friend,
The lens is really helpful. Although I am yet to build my own experience, I appreciate your world view of writing constructive criticisms. Regards and best wishes!

At last i have decided to get some comments
  • lbrummer Jul 13, 2011 @ 8:35 am | delete
I've been reading some of the comments and am wondering if I've got the guts to apply for a critique. I appreciate all the tips, so I guess I'll just jump in and see what happens.

Thats an excellent advice although Squidoo has many friendly and supportive lens masters doing their best to help out newbies, there are still a few who would rather prefer to spot out only the mistakes and give the lens master nothing more every time. <

Great tips on how to write a critique.Thanks.
  • sorana Feb 8, 2011 @ 12:47 am | delete
Great advice! I have had a bad experience with one comment recently. People who do that don't realise that, when you make a lens, you honestly believe you've done the right thing.
  • ohcaroline Jan 18, 2011 @ 1:56 pm | delete
These are good points to take note of. I'm still a little reluctant about putting my lenses in the Critique Me forum list. I got burned on one of my earlier lenses and haven't put anything there since. I know it was just a one-time deal; but I'm just a little gun shy now. I'm still here though.

Excellent advice! I very much remember my first critiques in the Squidoo forum. There were several really nice lensmasters who helped in a kind way. Kindness goes a long way. I am still here 17 months later and I remember the ones who helped me. I still consider them friends.
  • termit_bronx Oct 6, 2010 @ 8:32 am | delete
Great lens! Thank you for this information. I would like to help some Squidooers.
  • vallain Jul 10, 2010 @ 10:16 am | delete
I hadn't checked out the critiques section of the forum. Sounds like a good place to get advice on a few of my dud lenses. Thanks.
  • DeboraR Jun 10, 2010 @ 2:10 am | delete
Very helpful. I've used the forum for critiques many times since I've been here at Squidoo and for the most part I've been treated very well with good help. I want to give back as well as I've received.
  • noxid25 Mar 4, 2010 @ 8:35 am | delete
This is a great lens. From what I've seen, squids here are very constructive with their critiques. Everyone seems to want to help each other.
  • lakeerieartists Dec 4, 2009 @ 6:34 pm | delete
Excellent and to the point. Critiques are meant to be instructive not destructive and I think that you make that point well here. :)
  • boutiqueshops Oct 20, 2009 @ 8:14 pm | delete
oh this is such good information, Kimberly! Thanks for writing this! Favorited & will share often as this all needs to be remembered!
  • SherryHolderHunt Oct 20, 2009 @ 10:26 am | delete
Oh, I wish everyone would read this lens. I have to say, I don't like to see anyone receiving a critique in their Guestbooks either. I have had this happen to me a couple of times and it is rather embarrassing to receive one. I always value the opinions of other lens masters, but I would prefer you critique my lenses in the "Critique Section of the Forum" or send me a private message. I wish everyone would keep in mind that people other than lens masters read the Guestbooks, too.

Important advice here. I am so glad that folks at SquidU were so patient with me as a newbie. Over and over they answered my questions and helped me become a member of the community. Brutal criticism would have been terrible!
