If You Build It, They Will Come
This lens is about how I am taking that journey step by step. I hope it will be a guide used by both my mentors and new business associates. I am grateful for the chance to both tell and teach my story. Come back often for more updates and ideas.

Step One
Shed your fear
"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."

I must not fear
Step Two
Find your inner why

"It is by will alone that I set my mind in motion".
Dune by Frank Herbert

Isn't true that when you had the courage to go for your dreams and stood fast in your decision, you felt good about yourself? There are many great opportunities out there. Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and give one a try. Great rewards come to those who make the decision to leave the herd and face challenges head on every day.
The business you want to build must have some sort of deep emotional meaning to you. You have to enjoy what you do and it will give you the internal drive to keep going.

Why did I join PRIMERICA? Because I like learning about and teaching people how to save and make money. I enjoy developing people for leadership positions in the company as I continue to self-develop.
Why did I join TraVerus Travel? To be apart of something new and exciting. I wanted to have access to all the amazing benefits of being an agent as well as the chance to further develop my skills and create successful leaders.
I have changed my income potential forever!
I have chosen to be successful.
Have you?
Step Three
Commit yourself for the long haul
Once you have decided the business you want to get involved with, you have to believe that you can achieve success in it. It could take months or years, depending on how dedicated and coachable you are. Success is a journey that is not made over night. You will have ups and downs, but you have to consistently keep trying.Failure is only failure when you give up!
Once you have achieved success, you won't even remember all the insignificant challenges you faced along the way. You will have created your ultimate masterpiece, you.Step Four
A mentor
When starting a home business you don't need to know everything right out of the gate. Most quality home based business opportunities provide you with a mentor. You need to connect with your mentor for further development of your business. That takes a lot of the pressure off you, doesn't it?A good mentor has gone through the process already. He/she can safe-guard you against potential problems and point you in the direction of success.
If your mentor is not right for you keep looking in your up line till you do find the right person. You can only learn and grow as much as your mentor can teach.
Please note
By firmly understanding the steps at this point will create a firm base for you business to grow. Please take the time to really do them before reading any further.
Building Blocks
Great qualities to build on
* Value greatly every dollar you earn and spend. Think of each dollar as a tiny seed that can possibly turn into a mighty forest.* When ever possible try to turn each expense into a legitimate business expense.
* Save at least 10% of everything you earn. You can call this an emergency fund. Build it up to at least six months of your bills and payments
* Use the bucket theory read more here.
* Create multiple streams of income for yourself
* Shield yourself and your money from outside challenges. (See business reference books below)
* Share the wealth you attain and enjoy it.
* Manage your time efficiently.
Time Management Tips:
• Spend time daily planning your next day.
• Write out your goals, your dreams, and your schedule daily.
• Finish your feared things first.
• Prioritize your "To Do" list with 6 important things to accomplish tomorrow
• Don't procrastinate important things.
• Reward yourself for doing the right things.
• Don't be afraid to say no to the things that may waste your time.
• Multitask whenever possible.
Find a system that works for you and develop on it.

Step Five
What the experts have done
* Get free monthly sales training with the Tom Hopkins newsletter.
* Get access to home base business training with Dani Johnsons weekly training call vault.
Business Tools
Tools to get you started on your way
Communication with your mentor and business associates is vital and If your business entails communication with prospects or customers around the world, it could add up quick. Having free communication whenever you need it essential.* Skype Free calls to other people on Skype.
* Magic Jack Free local and long distance calling. Although the Magic Jack is a great product it does have its limitations. Find out more about them here before you decide.
Step Six
Starting to build
There are lots of ways to let people know about your business. The first is word of mouth. You should tell everyone you come in contact with about your special business or opportunity. The second is cold calling or purchasing leads.
The third is social networking. I believe that there a few different levels or areas of social networking. These include career sites, personal sites, building sites and bookmarking sites.
To understand better how these networking sites work with each other,
Check out this video
Step Seven
Practice Practice Practice and more Practice
"PDR. Practice Drill Rehearse".
This step is very important. Once you have internalized this knowledge it will become apart of you. You will no longer have to feel like you have to be "on" when you talking about your presentation or business because it will flow from you much like the "force" from Star Wars. You should feel as if you are talking to an old friend or family member.
Both Tom Hopkins and Dani Johnson have great material on fine tuning your game. I would suggest you check it out when you get to that point in your business.
Keep on learning and growing.
Step Eight
Build your own road map
Reflect on these ideas:
*What do you want to get out of this business?
* How long do you think it will take to reach your goals, if you gave it an honest try?
* Break down your goals into monthly and daily activities
* Aim high and strive to hit all your goals
Read your list daily. I like to post index cards in multiple spots around my house, so where ever I go I can see my goals. I try to execute my plan and be constant daily. Battles are won by small daily wins, don't you agree that is some powerful stuff.
Check out this business plan.
What would you do if you could payoff your house this year?

- Hey Robin,
Great advice here. I have been chasing my childhood dreams and actually have been enjoying the journey even if I never get there.
Another good book on selling is called, 'Selling to VITO' by Tony Parinello.
Chris.

- Hi Robyn,
Excellent lens, the first step of losing the fear so important as it's the lack of faith in themselves which causes so many people to never leave their 9-5. Thanks for sharing.
