Using binaural beats has been one of the biggest things that has influenced my meditation practice to be what it is today- much deeper and intense. After using binaural beats, I am more focused and can concentrate my attention much better on whatever task I've got going at the time instead of letting it wonder to the other things I need to do, the conversation I had earlier that day, and so many other things!

20 Meditation Tips For Beginners on How to do Meditation
Here is a really good article by Ray Baskerville the creator of Living Liberation Meditation Course
Although a good number of people try meditation at some point in their lives, only a small percentage actually persist with it. This is unfortunate, as the benefits are enormous. One possible reason is that many beginners do not start with an appropriate mindset to make the practice sustainable.
The purpose of this article is to provide 20 practical recommendations to help beginners get past the initial hurdles, learn how to do meditation, and integrate meditation as an ongoing practice in their lives.
1: Make it a formal practice. Set aside a time in the day that is your meditation practice time.
2: Only meditate for as long as you are enjoying it. It is especially important in the beginning that meditation is not a chore.
3: Do yoga or stretch first. Firstly physical activity will draw your own awareness into the body and away from your mind. A practice like yoga loosens the muscles and tendons allowing you to sit more comfortably. Additionally, yoga opens the body not only at the physical level but also at subtle level, which facilitates movement of energy in the body.
4: Pick a specific location in your home to meditate. Ideally the place you choose will be somewhere that does not have much activity at other times. Two reasons for doing this are, the subconscious is conditioned by repetition, so by going to the same place at the same time each day to meditate you can get in yourself to expect to meditate when you are there. The second reason is that when you meditate you begin to create a particular vibration in that spot. With time and meditation and place will become increasingly attuned to this energy of meditation, again making it easier for you to meditate when you are there.
5: Make sure your will meditation time is respected. If you live with others make sure that they understand that you are not to be disturbed while you are meditating. Equally for yourself make the same commitment, for example if your phone should ring, be aware of it and continue your meditation.
6: Create some representation of sacred space in your meditations spot. This should obviously be what is meaningful for you, maybe an actual altar with pictures and objects, or maybe just a special rug and your meditation cushion.
7: Use ritual if it helps you. This doesn't have to be elaborate it could be as simple as lighting a candle, or a lighting incense. The repetition of a ritual before you meditate, is again conditioning preparation for your body and mind.
8: Commit for the long haul. When you begin with the clear idea in your mind that the greatest benefits from meditation will accumulate with time, and see it as an ongoing process, you are less likely to give up in frustration.
9: Meditate with understanding. Get clear in your mind exactly what you think meditation is and what it will be like before you start. Invariably everybody does have ideas and expectations like this, it is very helpful to make them conscious before you start.
10: Be clear of your motivation to begin meditation. When you understand your reasons and objectives in beginning meditation you are more likely to find a practice or technique that will work for you at that time.
You should also take this time and opportunity to get yourself acquainted with binaural beats. They can help you become more efficient, creative, focused, and have more energy and drive throughout the day!

Common obstacles When Learning How to do Meditation
Learning how to do meditation is an incredibly simple practice that you can do. It is filled with many benefits that can be felt as early as the very first day you begin to meditate. However, because meditation is actually taking a minute to step back and relax, a lot of people have difficulties when first starting their practice.
When you first learn how to do meditation, all kinds of distractions may show up. These distractions are all obstacles which you can surpass. Some of the most common distractions and excuses to not meditating are:
1. I don't have enough time.
2. My knees hurt. I can't sit like that.
3. My back hurts when I sit for long periods of time.
4. I don't know how to sit in lotus position.
5. I can't quiet my mind.
6. I have too much stress to meditate.
7. I have too many other things that need to get done before I am able to start meditating.
8. There is too much noise and distractions around for me to concentrate.
All these reasons are valid and are very common when you first learn how to do meditation. Quieting the mind and living the present moment are things that we as Americans and inhabitants of the western world are just not programmed or socialized to do. Yet, the impact and benefits of meditation are so numerous and life-altering that it is well worth the practice. Remember, just as with any other type of activity, the more you practice the better you become at it.

Meditation and Being in "the Flow"In many Eastern religions and spiritual traditions, students are taught to concentrate as the primary goal and practice of learning how to do meditation. The students are taught to concentrate on a mantra, symbol, or message. The goal of this concentration is to eventually achieve absorption or "Samadhi."
In plain terms, absorption is basically a feeling in the individual where the self or "me" disappears and your focus is purely on the object on which you are concentrating. Eventually, the concentration level increases so much that you start to feel as one with the object on which you are concentrating.
This practice can be really helpful and is widely used by people from all walks of life. For example, a singer can concentrate and become one with specific notes. A football player can concentrate and become one with the football. You get the drift.
These moments of absorption happen to all of us more commonly than we would realize. When was the last time you stood and watched a beautiful sunset? Or listened to music that gave you happiness? Or created a piece of art work? Or gazed at the eyes of your child, parent, or loved one? Or had absolutely incredible sex?
Absorption happens when we are so caught up and consumed by the moment that we lose our sense of self consciousness and focus on the outside object of concentration. This feeling has been described as being in the "flow" by psychologist Mihaly Czikszentmihalyi. This feeling of flow can be absolutely wonderful, can give you tons of energy, and can make you feel like you can conquer the world.
Whether you call this feeling absorption, Samadhi, or being in the flow, the thing that remains certain is that you can achieve this feeling through meditation and concentration.
When was the last time you felt like you were in the flow of things? Do you remember what you were doing? Sometimes even work may give us that feeling huh? (all depends on what type of work you are doing I suppose...) Do you meditate regularly? Have you noticed whether you have had this feeling of "flow" more often since you started meditating?

4 Things You Should Do When Learning How to do Meditation
By Cory A. Mitchell
As we start our exploration of learning how to do meditation, here are some initial things that will help us get into a meditative state. These are general practices that should be adhered to every time we meditate as it will help the progress of the experience.
1. Have a quiet location where you can meditate undisturbed.
-This should be a personal space. One where you feel personally comfortable. It does not always have to be the same place, as we are mobile, but having a familiar location is a good idea.
-Having something near you that is calming can also help. For some people this may be a certain gem or crystal. For others it may be another object that belonged to a loved one who had a positive influence in their life. Anything that creates a more peaceful atmosphere and has a positive energy attached to it will aid us, even if just slightly. If you have nothing, that is fine too.
2. Be Comfortable in Your Attire.
-In meditation we want to be as still. Thus being comfortable is very key. This will include the clothes that we are wearing. Something that constantly needs to be adjusted will not serve us in any way in getting into a serene state.
-It is recommended you remove contacts and eye wear. For most meditation practices it will not matter. But as we progress and want to get deeper, especially if we want to move into methods of speaking with our spirit guides, removing our eye wear can help us form a bit better connection. Also, it is simply another thing which may need adjustment, but which is not required during meditation...(more)

- I would like to add that you absolutely do have to commit to the long term to really get the benefits of meditation. I always say to any new students that 10 minutes committed practice every day is better than 20 minutes 3 times a week.
