How To Do Magic Tricks
I was about 8 years old when I first wanted to learn how to do magic tricks. My sister's boyfriend was over at our house and pulled a quarter out from behind my ear?
How the heck did he do that? (remember I was only 8 years old)
I kept asking him how he did it, but all that he would tell me was that it was "magic".
Finally after messing with my mind for a few hours, he showed me how he did it. Once I knew the trick, I couldn't wait to try it on my friends.
The next day at school recess, I tried my new trick on a few of my friends and they made me do it over and over again. Before you knew it, I had a big crowd around me watching me do my new magic trick. I felt so good at that moment that I still remember it exactly today. In fact, I think it is my best childhood memory.
There was one thing that I would like to tell you about that I wish I could have erased from my mind. A couple of boys a few grades ahead of me stepped in and said that it wasn't a good magic trick because they could see me hiding the coin in my hand.
Ouch, did that ever hurt. I got confused, embarrassed and didn't know what to do. So I ran away. Kids can really suck sometimes.
Anyway, after a while of feeling sorry for myself, I finally got over my embarrassment... I also didn't do any magic tricks for a while. Until around Christmas time that is. I got one of those magic kits that has all those cool little tricks like a box that makes a coin disappear. It also came with a magician's hat and a magic wand.
Well, flashes of that day at school came back to me and I wondered for a few seconds if I wanted to go through all of that again. Then I thought... I can learn these magic tricks, have some fun with it and never have to show anyone.
So I went at it again. I practiced my tricks over and over again until I was pretty damn good... for an 8 year old that is. Then one day a friend of mine was over at my house and I did a few tricks for him. Well he was so into my tricks and kept begging me to show him how I did it because he couldn't figure it out.
I have not looked back since. I started with the easy tricks and gradually progressed to the more difficult tricks. Now, I'm not a professional magician but I do like to do my magic at friend and family get togethers.
I am so glad that I decided to learn how to do magic tricks. I enjoy seeing the smiles on everyone's faces and as long as people like my tricks, I will keep on doing them. Plus I won't lie to you... I do get a few free drinks at my local pub in exchange for some great entertainment :-).
