Do you like to be creative and design and make your own jewellery? Maybe you like to have some special earrings for the Christmas or holiday season! Here I will show you how to make classy wire earrings using some simple wire and beads. These creations can be very simply done with just different colors and types of wire or you can dress the earrings up with different types of beads. There are lots of different kinds of beads that could be used for this project depending on the look that you desire. The earrings that I have made in the past don't take long to create and I have given these to friends and family as little gifts tucked in with a Christmas card or birthday card ect. So if you don't wear earrings yourself maybe you would like to make some for a friend, daughter or grandaughter. It's just fun to use your hands and your imagination and see what designs you can come up with. I will list the tools and materials that you will need to go ahead and create some classy earrings.

Materials Required to make Classy Wire Earrings

List of Materials

Jewelery wire cutters (craft scissors, or jewelery pliers)
May need needle nose pliers or blunt nose pliers (optional)
Dowel or crochet needle (used to wrap wire around)
Wire - comes in a variety of sizes and gauges (20 gauge wire is larger and stornger than 26 gauge wire) use this as your guide when purchasing your wire. I used Silver 20 gauge wire for these earrings.
Fishhook ear wires
Assorted Beads in colors of your choice. ( one can choose anything from seed beads to glass beads to pearls. I used an assortment for these earrings.

Earring Making Tip

Wire from a spool has a natural curve.
Coils, spirals and loops will be smoother and easier to make if shaped in the same direction as the curve.

Choose a style

Basics of Wire Jewelery Making
Spirals
To make a spiral, cut 2 pieces of wire in desired length. May have to experiment as I did. Using your round pliers form a loop and grasp loop with blunt nose pliers. Turn pliers, holding wire flat with fingers until desired size spiral is formed.

Coils
Using a dowel or small crochet needle make a coil of wire by holding dowel in one hand and press wire against dowel to hold in place while wrapping wire around dowel to form a tube. Press each wrap against the previous wrap. Snip off when desired coil length is achieved.

Beads
Beads can be added singley or as units. Could be as easy as having one bead on a wire with a loop on each end. Or you could have loops and have wrapped wire on either side of a bead, depending on the look you like. You can use bead units as links or connectors between different shapes.

How To Make Classy Wire Earrings

For a Basic Pair of Classy Wire Earrings

Materials

Silver 20 gauge wire
2 silver fishhook ear wires
4 crystal or glass beads

For each earring make a bead unit using one crystal or glass bead. Open loop on ear wire and thread bead unit onto wire ear piece. Close loop. Bend a loop in end of 2 inch wire half inch from loop, bend wire at right angle and thread on another bead. Bend wire up at right angle. Bend loop in end. Open loops and attach drops to bead unit!
This is instructions for a very simple pair of dangle earrings. You can add spirals, coils or as many beads as you like to achieve the kind of earrings you want to make. Just have fun experimenting you might be surprised with what you create.
