Another Program You Can Add To Your List Is Fractron 9000 Also Available For Free At Sourceforge.net. It's A GPU Based Fractal Generator That Uses OpenGL/OpenCL And CUDA To Generate Fractals In Near Real Time.

Since It's Still In Beta It Doesn't Have All The Function Support And Bells And Whistles Like Apophysis But You Can Do A Lot With It; Virtually All OF Fractal Art Compositions Are Done With This Fractal Art Application.

For Those That Are Interested In 3D Fractal Generation They Should Also Look At Incendia And Mandelbulb 3D; Both Which Are Free.

Another Top Notch Fractal Generator Is UltraFractal I've Seen Fractal Artist Create Some Amazing Things With This Application.

Thanks, Xzendor7, I have added links to the four(!) great looking fractal generators you mentioned. It is very appreciated.

Hey, great lens! I downloaded ChaosPro, and can't stop using it! I just can't figure out how to save the images except for screen capture and cropping -- not the best. Can you give me any tips?
  • cstr May 30, 2011 @ 11:54 pm | delete
Yes, you can use the File menu, and open the Export submenu. Use "as Image" to save the fractal. Hope it helps!

    Hi There,
I like your lens on fractals. Really very informative. i am an animator and cg artist for many years now and use fractals in my cg programmes, to design motion templates and adobe after effects templates - they are no less beautiful - just take a look here at my creations-

Sorry, should have asked a minute ago. Will Fractint, being a DOS program work on Windows 7? Will I have a hard time finding a way to make a shortcut on my desktop like the other program?

Hi, I downloaded Apophysis, but can't find it anywhere on my computer to make an icon on my desktop. I was able to capture it on my taskbar, but that's it. Any suggestions? I think I've tried everything.

That is so incredibly beautiful! I love it and am working on a way to incorporate it into my tattoo art. If you can use these futuristic elements with nature art, it would work really well.
Here is another software program: http://www.ultrafractal.com/ I plan on using it at my site for tree tattoo art or for various natural art designs depicting nature.
    Thanks.

I create fractals to relax. The other evening my hubby asked what I was doing and I told him and explained what a fractal is. He seemed amazed you could use computers and math to create beautiful art.

I like your collection here. I was looking for a fractal programme that would do something in a larger scale than ChaosPro, I can't seem to change the image size for saving as a jpg, even after resizing it... Any ideas welcome ^_^

  • puzzlemaker Feb 2, 2010 @ 8:06 am | delete
Your "Fractals - the basics" is the best blurb I've read so far as to how these amazing things are formed. "The result is mapped to a colour, and so the images appear" this sentence is what I expected was happening in the inner workings of how the color relates to the equation, but I couldn't find anyone to confirm it until now. Thanks.

A natural explanation can be that many fractal patterns are similar to patterns in nature, and possibly the Paisley patterns are inspired by nature? (I am not really an expert on Paisley patterns).
  • 0ctavias0fferings Jun 18, 2009 @ 7:40 am | delete
I am constantly amazed how similar to ancient weaving and embroidery some fractals are, particularly something like the Paisley pattern which was popular in Victorian times. 5*
