4 Factors To Know When Self Meditating

When learning how to meditate you need four important things, firstly you need to find a quiet place that feels calm, you can achieve this by lighting some candles and keeping the lights low, make it a room that is as quiet as possible. Next you need to work on your posture, find a comfortable seat and keep your back straight with your head balanced, some people lay down to meditate but when you are first starting out this isn't advised because you may easily fall asleep. The third step once you are in a calm room and sitting correctly, is to control your breathing. Take some deep breaths, inhale deeply with your nose and exhale with your mouth, do this around 7 times and then continue to breath normally. The last step is to try and empty your mind from thoughts, focusing on something in the room can help to do this, close your eyes but leave them open enough to see the object you are focusing on. As a beginner your mind will likely wander, when it does try to refocus on the object you have chosen, count down from 10 in time with your breaths and then try to empty your mind again. Trying to self meditate is no easy task, it will take some discipline and practice but will be worth it in the end.

You can lose patience when first starting to learn meditation, just try to continue trying. Thinking about nothing at all is easier said than done. Try to spend half an hour in the morning and evening practicing to meditate, as time goes on you will find you can reach a feeling of peace in less and less time.
