Danger

Skateboarding tricks, believe it or not, can sometimes be dangerous. So you should probably wear at least a helmet. Knee pads and elbow pads can usually help to! Oh, and I can not be held responsible for any injury!

The House

Before you can start learning tricks you need to have a skateboard. The House has tons of skateboards to choose from. While you are there you might as well look at their huge snowboard and wind surfing sections (you might just find a new passion... in addition to skateboarding of course, nothing can replace the feeling of skateboarding). How to ollie

The ollie is the most important skateboarding trick. In order to do a kick flip, heel flip, pop shove it, and pretty much any other skateboarding trick, you need to know how to ollie. Your foot position when doing an ollie is pretty important. First put your front foot in the middle of your board and your back foot on the tail. To do an ollie the first thing you do is bend your knees. The second thing to do an ollie is push the tail of your board down to the ground, then the moment your tail touches the ground you jump up (this is the part that many people have trouble with. It may take a few tries before you get can get it). As you are almost at the full height of your ollie start moving your front foot up to the truck bolts at the front of your board to even it out. When you land make sure that both of your feet are over or almost over your truck bolts, also make sure your knees are bent (other wise you can injure your knees pretty badly, especially when doing an ollie off of something). If you are having trouble picturing how to do an ollie or are having problems doing an ollie, then check out the video below.

How to ollie off kickers

If you want to learn how to ollie off kickers (ramps), there are just a few simple steps to follow. First get going at a pretty good speed (so you can make it up and over the ramp). Get in the ollie position. Then when the nose of your board is almost at the top of the ramp, ollie. It's that simple. But with pretty much everything else in skateboarding ,it is all about timing.

How to pop shove-it

A pop shove-it is when your board does a 180 spin in the air. To pop shove-it you ollie, then you move your back foot in a backwards sweeping motion. Then after the board does a 180 you catch the board with your feet and land! And that's how you do the pop shove-it!

How to Boardslide

A boardslide is a type of grind. It's is the most basic of all of the grinding tricks. To do a boardslide, come up to what ever you are going to try it on with a slight angle, and do a 90 degree ollie. Land on what ever you are grinding on so that it is in the middle of your board. And also make sure you have even weight on both of your feet. Keeping your balance is also very important while grinding. Keeping your balance just takes practice. Once you get to the end of what ever you are grinding on just twist your body 90 degrees and land. Pretty simple stuff.

How To Boneless

The boneless is an old school skateboarding trick, but it's still a cool trick (not that old school tricks aren't cool). To boneless start skating at a decent speed ( I recommended trying this trick at a slow speed to start with). Then grab right behind the front wheels of your board. Next, take your front foot off the board, and quickly plant it on the ground and then jump with that leg. While your in the air, you simply put your front foot back on the board and land with you knees bent and your feet above the truck bolts. Once you think you have the boneless down, you can start throwing some finger flips and rotations in with your bonelesses. Almost anything you can do with an ollie you can do with a boneless. This is my favorite trick and I encourage everybody to try out the boneless at least once!

How To No Comply

To no comply put your back foot on your tail and your front foot on your nose. Slide your front foot off your nose and plant it on the ground. At the same time push down with your back foot (like you would for an ollie). This will make your board pop up a little bit. Then catch your board with your front knee. Then hop up with your front foot (which should still be on the ground). Then on your way back down to Earth put your front foot back on your board.

How to do a kick flip

To kick flip you put your back foot on the tail and your front foot behind the front truck bolts (kinda like you are going to ollie). But instead of having your front foot straight, put it at an angle (about a 45 degree angle). As you ollie move your front foot to where the board starts to rise, then flick your foot to the side. Then bring your foot back and after the board has went all the way around catch the board with your feet. The kick flip is one of the hardest tricks to learn, even most of the pros think so. So don't give up, just keep trying it until you land it.

How to heel flip

The heel flip is somewhat like the kick flip, they are just a little different from each other. To do a heel flip put your back foot on the tail so only three fourths of your foot is actually on your board and put your front foot any where from the middle of your board all the way up to the front truck bolts (you can place your foot as close to the front or the middle of the board as you want, put it where ever you feel comfortable with), you can have your toes hanging off the side of the board a little bit. First you ollie, then you slide your front foot up to the nose of your board and use the balls of your feet to hit the front corner of your board, so your board flips the opposite way of a kick flip (Most people think you use your heel to flip your board, but you actually use the balls of your feet to flip it). Then you simply catch the board with your feet and land over the the truck bolts.

How to do a finger flip

To finger flip you have your back foot on the tail and your front foot in the middle or just behind the middle of your board. First you ollie then grab the nose of your board, then flip the board with your hand. Make sure you move your feet out of the way. Then hopefully land back on the board.

How to Impossible

To impossible put your back foot on your tail so your heel is kinda hanging off and put your front foot up by the truck bolts with your heal hanging off a little bit so it's easy to get it out of the way. Then you push down and forward with your back foot (like in a sweeping motion) and move your front foot out of the way. Keep pushing your back foot forward until the board goes all the way around your foot. Then put your front foot back on.

How To Tre Flip (A.K.A. 360 Flip)

To do a tre flip (360 flip) put your front foot like you would for a kickflip and put your back foot on your tail, right where the board starts to incline. Make sure your toes on your back foot are hanging of the board. Then you want to scoop the board with your back foot (like you would for a 360 pop shuv it), and with your front foot give the board a light tap like you would for a kickflip (but lighter). You want more of a spin on your board rather than a flip. Then when you see the board come around you want to stop it with your front foot, then just put your back foot on, and ride away.

How To 360 Pop Shuv It

The stance for 360 pop shuv it and the pop shuv it are almost the same. The only difference is want to have your front foot a little bit above the middle of your board. After you ollie you want to bring your back foot backwards in a sweeping motion like you would for a pop shuv it. Once the board does a 360 you catch it with your feet and land.

How To Casper

To Casper get your feet in to a kick flip stance. Then do a kick flip but don't kick as hard as you would to do a kick flip. You only want to get half the rotation of a kick flip. You want to catch the board when its up side down (the griptape should be facing the ground and the graphic should be facing up). Catch the board with your front foot in the middle of the under side of the board and your back foot on the tail on the top of your board (the griptape). You only want the tail to be touching the ground. To get out of the casper jump up and flick your foot up.

Casper Video

I couldn't find a good video that tells you how to casper. But I found this video of Rodney Mullen which has a few caspers in it. You may have to watch it a couple times to really see what he is doing.

How to HardFlip

The hardflip is a kickflip and a frontside shuv it mixed together. The stance is almost the same as a kickflip, you just need to have your back heel hanging off the the tail a little bit. To hardflip you want to kickflip and do a frontside shuv it at the same time (the frontside shuv it is the same as a normal pop shuv it, but instead of sweeping your back foot behind you, you want to sweep it in front of you). You just want the board to do a 180 degree spin. Once the board has done its 180 degree spin and has flipped on time catch the board with your feet, and ride away.

How To Laser Flip

The laser flip is like a tre flip, but you do a heelflip instead of a kick flip. You set up your front foot like you would for a heelflip (just a little closer towards the nose), and your back foot like you would for a 360 pop shuv-it. As soon as you ollie sweep your front foot back like you would for a 360 pop shuv-it, and hit the left part of your nose like you would for a heelflip (make sure you do this at the same time). Also while doing the heelflip part make sure you don't hit the nose too hard, because you want more of a spin rather than a flip on your board. Once the board has done a 360 spin and has done one whole flip catch the board with your feet and ride away.

How To Do A Darkside Grind

To do a darkside grind set up in a kickflip stance. Like all grinds start heading towards what ever you are going to try it on, with an angle. When you think you are close enough to your rail, ledge, etc. you want to do a kick flip, but don't kick it as hard as you would for a kickflip (you only want half of the rotation). At the same time sweep your back foot just a little bit behind you (you want your board to turn 90 degrees). You also want to turn your body 90 degrees. Once you see that your board has done half of a flip and rotated 90 degrees and you have turned 90 degrees, catch the board with your feet . Your front foot should land on the bottom side of your nose and your back foot should land on the bottom side of your tail. Land with the rail as close to the middle of the board as you can. When you reach the end of the rail twist your body 90 degrees, then tap the heel side edge of the nose with your toes to start flipping it. Once the board has rotated 90 degrees and flipped half way catch it with your feet and ride away.
