How Can I fix My Cell Phone It Got Wet
What To do with A Wet Cell Phone
How can i fix my cell phone it got wetI had occasion last night to ask the question How can i fix my cell phone it got wet.
I was at the swimming pool with my daughter and she managed to drop my cell phone into the toilet as she was drying her hair .This phone was a Christmas present from the wife so my wife was not to pleased when she heard my tale. Now i know that water and electronics don't mix so i thought that the phone was dead and i would have to go back to the store and buy a replacement along with all the hassle that that was going to entail.
Now the down side of this little episode was all the hassle and inconvirnience i could see coming my way.The phone wasn't covered by any warranty so i was going to have to replace the phone, but more worryingly replace all the info from my sim card, all my music ,photos and pictures not to mention my personal details.Plus the cost and the time needed.
The First Thing You Should Do
remove the battery
Now he explained that the first thing you should do when you phone had come into contact with water is remove the battery,Never try to turn it on just to see if there is any life in the phone .Your number one priority is to remove all the moisture from the phone before you reconnect the power thus minimising the risk of a short circuit.
Take out the sim and remove any other removable parts - don't try to dissemble the whole phone you'll do more harm that good unless you know what you are doing...
Dry Out Your Phone
But How?
You could just let it dry naturally by leaving it in a dry sunny place, but this would take a while and would you be able to resist putting it back to gather before it was fully dried out?.
Try and remove all the excess water from the phone using tissue or a paper towel making sure you just mop up the moisture and not try and wipe the water from the phones components as again doing this may lead to you doing more harm than good..
You can then try and accelerate the drying process in a number of different ways,
Try using some of those desiccated granules sacks that a in the bottom of the box that your new phone arrived in.Now if you don't happen to have them lying around then a cheap and handy alternative is dry rice ,Yes You heard me rice.Put your phone in a bowl surrounded by dry ice.It will absorb the moisture from the phone .
Use a can of compressed air.You know the ones you use to blow off you key board to clean it.Don't put it to close to the phone though or you might end up freezing the inside of the phone.
Another tip is to use a hair a dryer Make sure it is set at the lowest setting or you risk melting some of the circuitry of the phone. The stream of warm air over the phone accelerates the drying.
A little patience required
If these tips do not work
If you have tried all of the above tips and the phone is still not working then I'm afraid that your phone may be beyond repair. You could take it to a repair enter but this is going to cost and it's often more cost effective to replace the phone.
