How Can I Get Rid Of Adult Acne?

If you are asking yourself "How can I get rid of adult acne?", your definitely not alone! Lets face it, there's nothing nice about acne, and when the heap of treatments on the market just don't work, you may feel stuck with it.

Long after puberty my acne still hadn't gone, and I was constantly trying to find the next best cream or lotion to fix it. Nothing made it better, and some things made it worse! Its only recently that I managed to get rid of it FOR GOOD, and take it from me, the solution didn't come in a fancy box.

Simple Solutions That Can Help You Now

There are a number of steps that you can take to reduce the appearance of acne. All of these steps are completely natural, and don't require any creams or cosmetics.

Please note that while these methods are brilliant for your skin, none of these will provide instant results. If you want to get rid of acne within 3 days (a week at the very most), then I strongly recommend this guide to Getting rid of adult acne

Anyway, moving on! 3 simple steps:

Step 1 - Try To Avoid The Following Foods

I know, it would have been much nicer to say "you can eat this" rather than say what you should be avoiding. Never-the-less, there are some foods which may cause it, and then there are others which really do contribute to acne:

1) Salt - Salt contains iodine, which has been proven to cause acne. Although I'm not sure how much it contributes to acne, its probably best to avoid it as much as possible anyway.

2) Milk, Ice cream & Cheese - I learnt this great fact in the Treating Adult Acne guide. Milk, ice cream and cheese (Yep, they are all my favourite foods too) causes mucus to form which collects bacteria. If there is too much of the stuff, it will try to escape through the pores on your face, hence causing acne. Dont worry too though, It's fine to have milk with your coffee, and the odd ice cream now and again wont hurt!

3) Artificial flavours and preservatives - They are EVERYWHERE, and although I know how hard it is to avoid them, its still best to always check the packet. These things are considered toxic to your body, and when it cant get rid of them, it usually results in acne.

Step 2 - Drink Plenty Of Water

Anyone who has read the guide to Getting Rid Of Acne would know that drinking water is crucial to clearing acne. First of all, your skin LOVES water... its a proven fact that those who drink 2 litres of water a day have glowing skin, and its where many people also tend to slip up (Myself included!).

For many people though, 2 litres sounds like a lot, yet in reality most people drink 2-3 litres of *something* a day anyway. If you drink a lot of tea, then I've heard that green tea is excellent.

Step 3 - Try To Keep Your Hair Off Your Face

I know this sounds weird, and anyone with long hair would find this a nightmare, but it is important. Heres basically why:

Your hair contains oils which are good for your hair (and are there no matter how clean your hair is), but aren't particularly good for your skin. If this oils gets into your pores, it finds it tricky to get out (again, I got all this great info from this Acne Guide, if you haven't checked it out already then I strongly recommend it).

I know from experience how tempting it is to comb your fringe over to cover up a spot (or a number of spots), but the fact is it is probably making the skin worse.

So, thats it!
