Why I learned to play guitar at fifty!!.

Learning the to play Guitar

Never to late to learn

I began playing the guitar four years ago. I aways wanted to learn to play, not for fame or fortune, just to sit and play and enjoy the music(however good or bad it was).

Like alot of kids ,I received a guitar as a present but never learned to play. I was busy with other things kids do, sports, trying to be cool in school, etc., so learning the guitar was put on the back burner.

The years went on- you live life, you graduate high school, then college, get your first job, have a family, work to support the family. The kids grow up, they go off to college-like I said, you live life.

Always in the very back of my mind was learning to play guitar.

I was sitting watching TV one day after I had just had my fiftyith birthday and WHAM, it hit me! I'm going to learn to play. So I bought a DVD lesson and started to learn.

The key to anything that you want to accomplish is to set goals. The first goal I set was to be able to learn how to shape a few chords, then how to change cords quickly and eventually I learned a simple song.

The wanting to learn is one thing, the other factor is putting in the time to learn. The guitar takes practice, practice, and more practice. I usually play(practice) about an hour everyday and often times I play more than an hour, I really enjoy this practice time.

After a year of practicing, I joined the Praise and Worship team at church, but that's another story to be continued later. The story here is to try something different, try something you've always wanted to do but never got around to it.
Try it you might like it!
