How A Solar Panel Works

The question is: How Does a solar panel work?  Solar panels are flat and will work best when they are positioned at a 90 degree angle from the suns energy. Solar panels are mostly made from photovoltaic panels, these panels absorb all their energy directly from the sun through lots of smaller cells on the surface of the panels, just the way a plant does absorb its energy from our sun.

Another way of describing how solar panels work, when the suns rays hit these smaller cells on the photovoltaic panel, when this has happened the energy is then transferred to a silicon semiconductor these photons are then turned into electricity, which then runs into connecting  wires then this electricity enters into a power generator system.

Silicon Solar Panels

How A Silicon Solar Panel Works

Solar panels which are made from silicon employ solar thermal energy to create electricity. These Silicon atoms are then used to help create the plates of solar panels. A more technical reason for creating silicon solar panels is by joining other elements with silicon that have positive or negative charges I hope this helped you gain some more understanding about the technical side of silicon panels.

Silicon solar panels can range from being used to heat water as solar hot water panels to those which are used for storing solar energy. Silicon solar panels are very similar to photovoltaic panels, these can both be commonly used in the professional solar industry.

How Solar Panels Work For Humanity?

Ways We Use Solar Energy

Today solar panels are used for many things, such as transportation signaling i.e. harbours for ships, navigation buoys. There are enormous uses of solar panels today, they are even placed on tall buildings and structures as aircraft warning lights. Solar panels can also be used for providing power environmental and situation monitoring equipment and corrosion protection system.

To the right you will see a photo we took of flashing solar speed lights, placed in a school district to help keep the traffic down to the 40 km/h speed limit.

Solar Panels In The Residential Sector

The residential sector is also using solar panels, they are placed on flat surfaces such as roof tops and terraces to create solar energy, such as hot water, solar lights to light pathways especially in our gardens and flag-posts. The hospitality industry, schools, community halls and hospitals, especially in remote areas are also taking advantage of solar energy. Solar energy also provides power to telephones, televisions and videos. Also there is an enormous range of refrigeration systems i.e vaccine refrigeration etc. Power plants can also be configured in isolated areas so they can power homes or be used as a depot where batteries can be recharged.

Water is pumped through a pv system in isolated areas. Specialized solar water systems are used on open water or for submersible use.

PV panels can be used on a larger scale in desalination plants. Large electrical loads can be powered by PV modules which helps produce more battery storage.

How Diesel Engines & Solar Panels Work Together

PV panels can be configured even smaller with diesel generators that supply the back power keeping the fuel and maintenance costs down.

People are using solar powered items everyday, personal items too such as calculators and watches, energy.
