Greatest Christmas Movie?
One of the most beloved Christmas tales is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This story tells of the Grinch, a green hermit who lives high in the mountains. He doesn't like Christmas, although we're not told why. In the story, he plots to ruin Christmas for the Whos of Whoville. In Whoville, Christmas is celebrated with song and a feast, which features roast beast.
As the Whos retire to bed on Christmas Eve, the Grinch is in his cave preparing to be an imposter Santa, fully equipped with a sleigh and his poor little dog, who will have to double as a reindeer.
He heads to Whoville and raids all the homes, taking their presents, their decorations, and of course, the roast beast. He is caught at one point, by tiny Cindy Lou Who, who wakes to find "Santa" taking all the gifts and decorations. When she asks why, he creates a lie and shoos her off to bed.
On Christmas morning, the Grinch expects to hear wailing and crying from Whoville, but instead hears joyous singing. Christmas has come to Whoville in spite of there being no toys and no roast beast.
Upon hearing this, the Grinch's heart swells to three times it's tiny size and he softens. Bringing back all the presents, decorations and the roast beast too, he is invited to join the Whos for Christmas Day. All is well.

The Grinch and Other Christmas Villains
We all love the story of the Grinch, that mean-spirited, cave-dwelling creature who plotted to steal Christmas from the Whos, all because his heart was two times too small. Who are the other Christmas villains that would ruin Christmas?
Well, there's Ebenezer Scrooge of course. Scrooge appears to be a heartless, bitter man, who would have his only employee, Bob Crachit work on Christmas day. As Scrooge travels his unhappy life and unfortunate future while dreaming on Christmas Eve, he comes to the realization that he's made a mistake, and begs the Ghost of Christmas Future to give him a chance to redeem himself.
Christmas morning comes and he wakes to find that he is still alive. Joyously, he embraces Christmas and makes amends with his family and Bob Crachit as well.
And then there's the oafish Abominable Snowman of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer fame. He traps Rudolph and Rudolph's friend Clarice in a cave, and we don't know for sure what his plans are for them, but we're afraid they're quite sinister.
Really, the Snowman is just suffering from a toothache. Once aspiring dentist, Hermey, pulls the tooth the Snowman becomes a friend to all, and a helpful Christmas tree trimmer as well.

The History of How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Written in 1957 by Dr. Suess, How the Grinch Stole Christmas is one of our all-time best-loved Christmas tales. The story started out as a book, which was also illustrated by Dr. Suess using only black, red, and pink ink (for the Grinch's eyes).
The color green is a later addition. In 1966 the story became an animated cartoon that still delights children young and old.
The book and cartoon were the only media outlets for the Grinch until the 2000 film adaptation of the story directed by Ron Howard and starring Jim Carey as the Grinch. In 2006, the Grinch hit Broadway in a sold-out musical production of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, narrated by Max the Dog.
This well-loved and always fun story is now presented in several ways that the whole family can enjoy. So as Christmas creeps closer, put on your pajamas, pop some popcorn and join the family for a yearly dose of that hard to hate green hermit, The Grinch.
