Do You Know What Happened on September 11?

September 11, 2001: Terrorists cause the death of 2,937
                                   innocent people.
September 11, 2000: I can't remember. Can you?

Those terrorists took more than our mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers and sisters. More than our brave firemen and policemen. They took our history. They took away every September 11 that came before 2001. The births, the deaths, celebrations, and holidays. Events, important or not, now forgotten.
Well, I'd like to take a little time now to bring back our history by remembering all those forgotten September 11 events.

Did You Know?

On September 11, 1916 the Star Spangled Banner was sung at the beginning of a baseball game for the first time in Cooperstown, NY.

9-11 was my son's 21st birthday. He never got to celebrate it, as nobody felt like going out and celebrating that day.

Yeah! I agree - September 11 was stolen from us. Not my birthday but certainly a day I'll always remember.

Can you remember what you were doing

On the most famous Sept.11?

I was sitting at home with three of my kids. I walked into the living room and saw the tv. I didn't understand what I was seeing. When I realized what had happened I dropped to my knees and started crying.
Before this happened, I would hear people talk about the day Kennedy was shot. How they could remember exactly what they were doing, like it was yesterday. I never believed them. Now I do, of course.

This is a great lens to demonstrate how this one event changed so many lives, before and after. Thank you for doing it and reminding us all how human we are and how much we care when devastation hits, even if we are not directly affected. Hugs

Watched a documentary last night where a few of the folks that had camcorders that day told their stories. One filmed the first person to jump. A blue-sky day turned to horror and devastation in seconds. It was hard not to cry listening to them tell their stories, so I just let it flow.

I really like this lens. I never looked at it from your point of view, but that memory of September 11, 2001 is embedded in us forever. I can tell you exactly what I was doing at 8:46a.m. on that day like it just happened. Anything that happened on sept. 11 the years before, I haven't got a clue. I see your prospective and great job!

This is a unique memory of all the 9-11's that went before, the ones we usually forget about, like the birth of my son, and of course his 21st birthday was on 9-11 2001, and never celebrated. I featured this in the 9-11 section on my United States Of America lens, and also left a blessing behind.
