How to Cook Buffalo Wings

Buffalo wings are one of my all time favorite foods. Many of my friends ask me How to Cook Buffalo Wings? My favorite recipe for buffalo wings is my version of Hooter's Buffalo Wings. My recipe is also closely related to the famous Anchor Bar Buffalo Wings. Keep reading if you want to learn how to make what I call, Marley's Best Damn Buffalo Wings.

How to Cook Buffalo Wings

Get those wings frying

Many recipes call for baking your chicken wings. When I make Buffalo Wings I prefer to fry them. Deep frying is my preferred method. You can also pan fry them if you do not have a deep fryer. If you have a deep skillet you can still deep fry your wings just be careful of grease splatters.

How to Cook Buffalo Wings in a deep fryer. Set your deep fryer to heat to 325 degrees. When the fryer is ready put your wings in the basket and carefully lower them into the hot oil. Be careful of splatters if the chicken is wet or has ice crystals. It is best to get the crystals off before you put them in the oil. Cook the wings for about 10 - 15 minutes.

How to Cook Buffalo Wings in a skillet. Basically the same as above except you will be cooking the wings one side and then the other. Again heat the oil to about 325 degrees and cook for about 4 - 5 minutes per side.

How to Cook Buffalo Wings in the oven. Place frozen wings or thawed wings in a single layer in a baking dish. Cook at 400 degrees for 45 minutes if frozen or about 25 minutes if thawed.

Once any of the above steps are finished put wings in a large bowl. Pour your favorite wing sauce over the wings and toss with tongs to get them well coated. It is best to let them sit for a few minutes to let the wing sauce stick to the wings well.

How To Make Buffalo Wing Sauce

To make buffalo wing sauce you only need a few ingredients. Again this is my version of Hooter's Buffalo Wings and is quite similar to the famous Anchor Bar Buffalo Wings.

Start with a sauce pot and melt 1 stick of margarine. Once the margarine has melted add just a bit of flour and mix it up good with a whisk. Stir in about a 1/4 cup of water. Now add your hot sauce to the mix, about 12 ounces of hot sauce. My favorite is Crystal Brand hot sauce. Continue stirring all of this until the ingredients and the hot sauce are all combined. Now all you need to do is pour the sauce over your fried wings and enjoy. If the sauce is a bit hot for your liking just add a little more water and taste the sauce.

How To Make Buffalo Wing Sauce ingredients:
1 stick of margarine
12 ounce bottle of Crystal Hot Sauce
1/4 cup of flour
1/4 cup or more of water

That's it, you have your buffalo wing sauce made. You can store any sauce you didn't need for your wings for a couple of weeks in the refrigerator. Just heat it back up and use it on your next batch of wings.

It has been suggested to me that I use Franks Hot Sauce instead of Crystal. That is what the Anchor Bar uses is Frank's. Thanks for the comments. Yes, Frank's is much more like the original. I use Crystal because I prefer the flavor over Frank's but Frank's still makes great wings.

I am a big fan of Franks Red Hot Sauce!! The recipe I use is as follows:

Cover baking pan with parchment paper.... this will give you crispy wings and save your pan at the same time. Before Cooking I coat raw wings in "Fish Crisp" I have found this to be the best coating as it seals in the juices. For the sauce: 1/4 cup of butter, 1.5 cups of Franks Red Hot Sauce, a dash of clubhouse spicy mesquite spice, and finally 1 tbsp of vinegar.

Toss the wings in the sauce as soon as they come out of the oven and Voila!!
