What are the choices?

The choice of acne treatment will depend on the type of acne a person has. There are a number of over the counter acne remedies. Some of these remedies may include benzoyl peroxide, which is a common antibacterial agent.

Benzoyl peroxide can decrease the bacterial infection in the acne affected area and can also help to remove dead layers of surface skin. This type of treatments helps the skin by assisting the pores, in making it more difficult to become clogged.

Today there is also laser treatment available for treating acne.

If there is a serious cases of acne it is best to consult a dermatologist who can advise on the best course of treatment.

Laser Treatments To Help Cure Acne

There are many different acne treatments, designed to treat different types of acne. Mild forms of acne can often be treated by over-the-counter products and also natural remedies have shown positive results, while more severe forms of acne require medical attention.

In recent years laser treatments have proven to be a faster, and sometimes more efficient means for treating many conditions. Acne is one of them.

Acne is easy to analyze. It can leave lasting scars, which are more prevalent in forms of severe acne, while those left with milder forms of the condition are easier to treat.

One of the most effective treatments for treating acne scars is the use of lasers. Acne should be treated as early on in the course of the condition as possible, so as to prevent further scarring.

One of the latest ways to treat active acne is with micro dermabrrasion which uses aluminium hydroxide crystals. These crystals abrate the skin, removing the top layers of the skin. This removes excess debris associated with acne. This type of treatment is not recommended with milder forms of acne as it can be hard on the skin. However, this treatment has proven to be very effective in clearing up active acne.

This type of treatment is also used to clear acne on the back and chest. This can be helpful since back and chest acne is often more dificult to treat than facial acne.

Treating acne scarring requires a series of treatments before visible results are seen. Unfortunately, this treatment isn't very effective in treating deep scarring caused by severe or prolonged acne.

Because of this, it is recommended it be done by a doctor or qualified therapist who knows how to do this procedure without causing more damage to your skin.

Tips For Acne Prevention

Acne has long been one of the most common problems affecting many people, causing not only physical effects, but also psychological and social ones as well.

So how can you combat this problem? There are various treatments available both over-the-counter and prescribed by a doctor, but perhaps, the best way to begin treating your acne is to take steps to avoid it. The tips below will show you how to that.

Cleansing your skin is one of the most essential acne prevention measure you can take. Not only does this clean off dirt, bacteria, and other unwanted materials, but it also removes excess oils that can cause episodes. It is important that you do not over wash your skin, as this will remove oils that actually help your skin. This will result in dry, irritated skin, and can further aggravate the condition.

Use a gentle soap or acne cleanser. Cleansers have been developed to specifically help with acne, and are available both over-the-counter or through a prescription.

Zit popping is a bad habit to get start, and perhaps, a hard one to break. They are bothersome and sometimes painful, and it would seem that you would receive relief from popping them and getting rid of infectious pus. This is not so. In reality, popping pimples pushes the bacteria further into the skin and can cause further irritation to the problem area and the skin surrounding it. Use a skin toner in addition to washing your face instead.

Stress is also an aggravating factor to acne sufferers. When you are stressed, chemicals in your body are working against you and can cause your skin to react and breakouts to occur. Get plenty of sleep, eat properly, and try to remove yourself from stressful situations.

If you have acne on parts of your body such as your chest and back, wear lose clothing. This is recommended especially when indulging in activities such as working out. Tight clothing can irritate your skin, and will aggravate your acne. It can also be uncomfortable to acne sufferers as well. This is also relevant because when you work out, you sweat, which can help influence outbreaks. Tight clothing can trap these materials on the surface of your skin, or may even cause you to sweat more. Loose clothing will prove more comfortable all around.

There is no sure way to cure acne, and many factors play into its causes. Depending on your skin type, certain tips may be more effective than others.
