How to Deal with a Long Distance Relationship
Being in a long distance relationship is hard.
But I believe that it's totally doable.
My boyfriend and I have had a long distance relationship for a year now and we've been dating for 3 years total.
There have been some rocky times, which is largely why I've found all these great resources on the internet that have kept us together.
Better than just keeping us together, these resources have actually helped out our relationship and have made it better.
I still won't say it's a walk in the park (and probably never will) but learning how to deal with a long distance relationship gets easier.
You find yourself falling into a certain groove that works for both of you. Granted, you have to fight to get to that point, but if you're determined to do it, I'm positive that you will get there!
I hope that this information helps you as much as it helped me. Best wishes to you!

Books That Can Help
There are also lots of books available that will give you great ideas for how to keep the relationship fresh and exciting, even if you've been dating a long time.
Even if your significant other is not thrilled about the thought of reading these books, don't worry.
They don't have to as long as you read them because your excitement in something will probably be contagious for them. Retell them what you've read and describe what you would like to do.
It's likely that they will at least be willing to give it a shot and will ultimately end up liking it.

What To Keep In Mind
Some Rules for How to Deal with a Long Distance Relationship:
1) Let the other person know that you are thinking of them often.
2) Make time for short but meaningful conversations. When you do talk, really be active in the conversation.
3) Send tokens that let them know you are thinking of them.
4) Let the other person know that they are a top priority for you.
5) Don't lie or leave things out. It's so much worse when they find out.
6) Don't hold grudges. Fight and then let it go.

My boyfriend and I love our webcams because they're the thing that really lets us feel close to each other. While the phone is great and all, webcams let me show him some new shirt I bought or he shows me the new couch he got for his apartment, etc. They make us feel that we can "update" each other on our lives fully so that things aren't a surprise when we do get to see each other (ex: new haircut!).
They're not very expensive either. This is the model that I got for both of us and they have worked very well. The picture is a bit grainy so if that bothers you, you might want to get fancier ones. But they get the job done so we've been ok with them!
Long Distance Relationship Blog
This is a personal blog of a couple.
It's very interesting to read from the point of view from a person also in a long distance relationship.
I'm glad that there are people out there that do this so that it's a little easier for the rest of us!

Here's what my boyfriend and I do:
We get on our headsets and turn on a good movie at the same time.
You get all the experience of enjoying a movie together ("Oh my gosh, did that just happen?!) without actually having to be together.
Sure, it stinks not getting to do any cuddling while you're watching the movie.
But hey, it's better than the alternative: nothing!
This works for TV shows too!
Go to Hulu.com to find pretty much any TV show you could ever want to watch.

Find Out What Other People Are Going Through
It can be comforting to know what's going with other people so that you don't feel like you're isolated.

Get in touch with other people going through the same things as you.
It always helps to know that there is a separate party that you can vent to when things are going to well and that there will be someone to listen to you gush when things are going well.

It is a step by step guide for working things out with your significant other, even if there are tons of hurt feelings on either side (or on one, depending on what happened!)
This is very sound advice and is based off of a lot of real relationships that were fixed by using this information.
Don't let the fear of rejection stop you from making up with your significant other. It's better to make the effort than spend time down the road regretting not doing it.
