How do your toes look?

If you intend to go barefoot, make sure your feet look delectable. That means treating yourself to a pedicure.
You can do your own pedicure. Here's how.

Preparing For Your Pedicure

Clean And Soften Your Feet

First prepare your feet for the pedicure

  1. Remove old nail polish with a nail polish remover.

  2. Soak your feet in a foot soak for 10 minutes.

  3. Lift your feet out of the water and massage a foot scrub on your feet, paying special attention to the soles of your feet and the tough dry skin there.

  4. Soak your feet in clean warm water to rinse off the scrub.

  5. Pat feet try with a towel and then apply a foot lotion on your feet.

  6. Cut your toenails straight across with a toe nail clipper but not too short in order to avoid ingrown toe nails.

  7. Never cut the cuticles. You might end up with an infection. If you really must do something about the cuticles, you can push them back with a cuticle stick.

  1. On dry nails, apply the base coat. This will protect your nails from the color in the polish and help the pedicure to last.

  2. While waiting for the base coat to dry, choose the nail polish color or colors you want for your nails. Do you want them all in the same color?
Do you want a different color on each nail?

  3. Once the base coat is dry, paint on the nail polish in the color you want for each nail in 3 strokes. One stroke straight down the center of the nail. The other two strokes down the sides.

  4. Dip a cotton bud in nail polish remover and use that to remove the polish that got onto your skin instead.

  5. Let the nail polish dry completely.

  6. Apply a second coat of nail polish and clean up the mistakes with the cotton bud.

  7. Once completely dry, you could choose to embelish your nails by painting artful strokes of nail polish in another color onto your nails. You could paint on flowers, birds, butterflies or anything you might think of. Practice first by painiting the design on a piece of paper before trying that on you nails.
