The PSP hand-held gaming market has exploded in recent years and the sales of UMD format games is staggering. Recently, I visited Craigs List to see what the market there was offering up in the form of PSP games. For those of you who are unaware of what Craigs List is, it is a website where you can place ads for free to sell or trade anything, including PSP games.

What struck me as unusual is the amount of PSP UMD's that were being offered up on Craigs List given the current availability of websites that allow gamers to download just about any game they choose, not to mention wallpapers, movies and music videos. I had a few UMD's laying around so I placed and ad to sell them on Craigs List. What I learned was amazing.

Craigs List has almost every major to mid-sized city in the United States listed on their website, and is designed specifically for local ads and posting ads in other cities is against Craigs List TOU. After I placed my ad, I received more than a few email replies in response to my ad. I received various responses and I'm sure some were from spammers trying to harvest email addresses, but I did receive a great deal of genuine responses.

I sold the UMD's rather quickly and this should have been the end of the story. People that place ads are required to keep their ads up for a minimum of 48 hours, in fact, Craigs List will not let you remove the ad one minute before the 48 hours has expired. After two whole days, I had confirmed that many people are unaware that you can download PSP games online.

The most interesting email responses to my ad came from military families, mainly wives, searching for PSP games before their husbands deploy for tours of duty in Iraq.
Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines on active deployment are perfect candidates for the services of a PSP downloadable game website. Their wives were looking furiously for PSP games for their husbands with a sense of urgency that would make a crash cart team in an ER envy.

I responded to these emails explaining that it is possible to download PSP games from the web and there was really no need to buy the UMD format. Most military personnel have access to computers for personal use for web calls, email and access to the Internet. I went on to explain that by paying a one time inexpensive fee, their husbands could download all the games they could possible want, as well as movies, music videos and wallpapers. I received thank you emails from both the wives and their husbands that had no clue that PSP games were downloadable.

If you are considering downloading PSP games, once you begin searching for downloadable PSP game website, you will be inundated with free PSP download sites and caution should be exercised. Free sites usually have low quality downloads and are offering free downloads for ulterior motives, either to get paid for their advertisements or email harvesting.

Reputable fee sites are the best alternative for downloading PSP games. They are inexpensive and only require a one time life-time membership fee. You can make up the cost for the membership for less than what it would cost for two UMD format PSP games. Paid membership sites also provide faster downloads and customer support while both are non-existent with free download websites. Most importantly, the quality of the download will be excellent giving you an overall better gaming experience.
