Gizz's not so Scarey Halloween Story

The castle fell into darkness as the daylight slipped away,

As it did at the close of each and every day,

Gizz had never liked it when day turned into night,

Different from the other ghosts he prefered the light.

For Gizz this night was always like some horriffic dream,

It was the 31st of October, the night of Halloween.

Nightmarish creatures would come to take our ghost

Out for Halloween, which is what Gizz hated most,

He'd rather play a board game with his friend Yabba Rat,

Than sit on a broomstick with with some old witches cat.

Now Tickety was out this night at a Wizards party bash,

Drinking witches brew and dancing the monster mash!

So Gizz sat himself down in Tickety's favourite chair,

To tell us all a story each in turn he'd try to scare.

Welcome all you mortals to my slightly scarey dream,

As my thoughts they turn to the night of Halloween.

Now begins a tale about that chilling time of year,

Where heart will pound, limbs will shake as you fill up with fear.

When the moon is full and the werewolves start to howl,

Witches dance round cauldrons, brewing things so fowl.

Bat wings flap as spiders creep,

Vampire wake from undead sleep.

Zombies from their earthly graves arise,

Slowly walk the land as they terrorize.

Skeletons rattle and creak their bones,

Scare us all with shrieks and moans.

Jack 'O' Lanterns with burning eyes,

Will only add to your surprise!

'Trick or treat', I have to ask?

Is that really a rubber mask?

Across the moon as witches fly,

It's time for Gizz to say "Goodbye!"

Gizz tries to Wake Tickety Boo

Allow me to be your host and help you draw our 'Gizz the Ghost'

Stage 1

Draw a circle for Gizz's right eye.

Next to it draw a half circle for his left eye ( see picture 1 ).

For his nose draw a curved shape from the edge of the first circle ( hooking it around - a bit like drawing a 'G' shape ).

Next to the nose draw in a 'C' shape for Gizz's cheek.

On his nose draw in his nostril ( see Picture 1 ).

Finally add two small circles for his pupils.

Stage 2

Draw a line under the nose to create Gizz's top lip ( see Picture 2 ).

Next draw in Gizz's lips, follow the curves ( as in picture 2 ), there's no right or wrong way so just have a try and see how he looks ?

Now draw in Gizz's teeth and tongue and colour in the area around his tongue.

Stage 3

Draw in Gizz's facial lines, around his eyes, cheek, top lip and around his mouth.( See picture 3 for details ).

Stage 4

Now add in Gizz's hair line, eyebrows and ear.

Start above his left eye, curve the hair line up and inwards towards his right eye ( drawing in curved spikes ).

Continue down the edge of his face finishing close to his cheek ( see picture 4 ).

Above each eye draw in Gizz's eyebrows, do this by using a gentle zig, zagging motion with your pencil / pen ( see picture 4 ).

Draw in his ear directly behind where Gizz's hair finish's, do this by making a back to front 'C' shape, now draw in the inner ear.

Stage 5

Now for Gizz's hair, Each of Gizz's hair sections is made up by curving and spiking as you draw.

Start at the top of Gizz's nose and use the curve and spike method to draw all of Gizz's hair ( see Picture 5 to help you ).

Stage 6

Add the spikes to Gizz's hair, do this by adding 'v' shapes to each of his hair strands ( see picture 6 for details ).

Stage 7

To draw in Gizz's collar and neck line start from just below his bottom lip, draw a curving line down and out to the left, now curve it back in under Gizz's chin.

From the point under Gizz's chin draw a curved line up to form the front of Gizz's neck ( see picture 7 ).

Now from the bottom line of gizz's neck draw a 'v' shape up and to the right and curve this up to just in front of Gizz's hair line ( again see picture 7 for details ).

From the back of the neck draw a curved line across and curving down to the right, now link it back to the left and join it just below the neck ( see picture 7 ).

Stage 8

Just below Gizz's collar draw a circle for his button ( see picture 8 ), draw four smaller circles inside and draw a thicker black line between the four holes, draw in an inner circle ( to give the button a raised edge ).

From the very tip of Gizz's left collar draw a line with several slight curves in it ( to make his left sleeve, now bring the end of the sleeve up in a curved 'v' shape, now bring the line up to where his arm-pit would be ( see picture 8 ).

Next to the sleeve draw in a pocket ( again see picture 8 for position ).

Under the original button draw in two lines ( to show his coat popping open ), add another button ( but this time part of it is covered by the sleeve ), draw it as before ( see picture 8 ).

Stage 9

Starting at the tip and just under the edge of Gizz's Right collar draw in Gizz's right sleeve down and to the right.

Draw the cuff of the sleeve in a gentle curve in towards the left sleeve and draw the sleeve back up to where his arm pit would be ( see picture 9 ).

Draw in the crease lines in Gizz's arm pits and on the sleeves ( see picture 9 ).

Stage 10

On the bottom right edge of Gizz's left sleeve draw a short line for his arm, draw in a raised curved line for his shackles, draw three curved lines around his wrist to form the edge of the shackles ( see picture 10 ).

Draw in Gizz's hand, see how his thumb is raised up and his finger curve around, ( see picture 10 ) add in his knuckle lines and thumb nail.

Stage 11

Now to draw one of Gizz's ball and chains.

Starting from the shackle on his wrist draw a curved 'U' shape to make up the first part of the chain, from the tip of this 'U' shape draw a half circle and on the opposite side repeat this step ( do not join these in the middle ).

Now draw a curved shape ( a bit like a sausage ) that passes the end of the two semi circles you have just drawn.

Repeat the steps above until your chain has 8 links in-four of the circles and four sausage shapes ( see picture 11 for details ).

Draw in a quarter circle at each side of the final 'Sausage shaped link, join this final section to a circle ( about the size of a ten pence or Quarter Dollar ).

Stage 12

Starting from about half way down Gizz's left arm draw a curved line down and to the left ( see picture 12 ).

Draw in Gizz's knee, just sticking out above his ripped coat, sweep another line down in front of his knee, bringing it to a point.

Behind his knee draw another point.

Continue to draw these torn effects until you reach the Circle 'weight' hung from Gizz's arm.

Carefully draw a line behind the torn parts of his coat to show Gizz's leg, at the bottom of his leg ( next ot the circle draw another shackle ) using the same kind of technique used for drawing the one on his arm ( see picture 12 ).

Draw in the top of his foot, using a curved line under the shackle.

After the Circle 'Weight' draw in three more rips.

Draw a curved line down from Gizz's hand shackle and join to the last of the three rips you have just drawn ( see picture 12 ).

Stage 13

From Gizz's wrist draw the other side of his jacket in a curvy line down to just below the other side ( see picture 13 ).

In the gap between the two sections of the jacket draw in Gizz's right ankle and again draw in another shackle ( as before ).

Next draw in the chain ( this time with just two circles and two sausage shaped sections ).

Draw in the largest of the circles ( about the size of a two Pence piece or a half Dollar ).

Gizz's shoes are very curvy, from the left edge of his left ankle draw a tight curl out and upwards to the left, curve it back around and down, add another curve as you come under the foot and link it to the underside of the first circle you drew.

Draw in the laces and lace holes ( see picture 13 ).

Draw five or six torn sections across to the right ( see picture 13 ).

Stage 14

Now for Gizz's right shoe, from the edge of his left ankle draw a tight curl out and upwards to the right, curve it back around and down, add another curve as you come under the foot and link it together ( see picture 14 ).

Draw in the laces and lace holes ( see picture 14 ).

Stage 15

Draw in the shackle on Gizz's right hand ( same principle as the previous shackles ).

Now draw in his hand, this time his fist is facing forwards ( see picture 15 for help ).

Repeat the steps above until your chain has 4 links in it ( see picture 15 for details ).

Draw in a quarter circle at each side of the final 'Sausage shaped link, join this final section to a circle ( about the size of a one Pence or one cent ).

From the bottom of the small circle draw a line down to join the rips on the coat.

Stage 16

Draw in the crease lines on Gizz's clothes ( see picture 16 ).

Stage 17

Write in the smallest ball ' Heavy Ball'.

Write in the medium size ball ' Very Heavy Ball'.

Write in the Biggest ball ' Even Bigger Heavier Ball'.

Stage 18

Write in your ghost's name 'Gizz the Ghost'.

Stage 19

Initial your work.
