The Great Old Wizard Tickety Boo

There lived an old wizard called Tickety Boo,

He lived in a land where Wart Globbers grew,

Up high on a hill there his castle stood,

Looking down on the creatures of Magic Tree Wood,

The Wizard he dressed in blue robes and a hat,

And sitting beside him, his friend Yabba Rat.

The Magic he used was for all good things,

To bring light to the wood, To mend fairies wings.

He once fought the mighty Dragon of Drake,

The monster was huge the size of a lake.

It roared at the Wizard, it was evil and bad,

It made all the creatures in Magic Wood sad.

Why did it attack? Why did it mean harm?

Why did it disturb all the peace and the calm?

No ordinary Dragon, this trouble was mean't,

From a far away place, this great beast it was sent.

Here was the work of a cruel evil thing,

The right Royal Wartarth Great Goblin King.

He hated the Wizard and all that was good,

So he'd sent his pet Dragon to destroy the old wood.

Some Wartglobbers hopped up the hill to the wizard,

With a flap of it's wings, Dragon caused a great blizzard,

One of the Wartglobber fell onto it's back,

Dragon circled above then flew down to attack.

The old wizard chanted, summoned powers so intense,

Even the Great Dragon, could not breach this defense.

Surrounding the Wartglobbers in a protective bubble,

To keep them all safe and avoid any trouble.

The wizard stood on his battlements high,

Overlooking the land and the sea and the sky.

He asked the dragon, "Please will you leave?",

Then pulled out a potion from inside his sleeve.

The dragon sneered anf laughed out loud,

From his mouth came fire and his nostril smoke cloud.

"I'll stay as long as I like old man,

just try and stop me if you can!"

The Wizard shrugged and used the potion,

Which put the dragon in slow motion.

He then pulled out his wand of good,

This stopped the dragon where it stood.

type=text

Falling to the ground, the Great Dragon of Drake,

Complained loudly of a strange stomache ache.

The wizard danced with the greatest of glee,

Then said to the dragon "Don't mess with me."

Dragon rolled over, got back onto his feet,

Limped slowly away, head hung down in defeat.

Looking back gave a scowl, a grumble a sneer,

Coughed a few times, then he spoke very clear.

"Old man you may have won today,

But i'll be back another day."

type=text

Far away in a cave that's both smelly and damp,

Sat the King watching flames in his magical lamp.

In it he saw his pet Dragons defeat,

Cowering and limping away in retreat.

He growled through his teeth,Thumped at his chair,

The sound echoed loudly, throughout his lair.

"I'll get you old wizard and all the things good,

Take your stone castle and that magic Tree wood."

Back at the castle Tickety gave a big smile,

As he patted our Yabba, they talked for a while.

They sat and watched as night turned to dawn,

Both put up their arms, Gave a stretch and a yawn.

Sleepily walked and climbed into their beds,

Within seconds came snoring and big sleepy zeds.

With this it seems our story ends,

But now you've met so many friends.

Yabba Rat will be dreaming of you,

As will the Old Wizard, Tickety Boo.

So don't be down or look so glum,

For more adventures are still to come.

Have you enjoyed my story told in rhyme ? Well grab your pencil, as it's drawing time !!

Stage 1

Towards the top the page draw two circles
and put a small dot in the centre of each to
make Tickety's glasses and eyes.

Next draw a small arch between the circles
and finally draw two straight lines on each
side of the glasses.

Stage 2

Under the glasses draw a pear shaped nose,
(but don't link the top of the nose to the glasses).

now draw a curved line on each side of the
nose for Tickety's nostrils.

Stage 3

Just above the glasses draw in
two fluffy eyebrows.

Stage 4

Starting just above the left of the arm on Tickety's glasses start to draw his hat, think of drawing 3 arches, each getting smaller.

Next comes the floppy part of the hat, curve this around the top and link to two more small arches.

Finish by curving the hat over Tickety's forehead.

Stage 5

Tickety's hat is full of stars, moons and planets, so you can copy my design or put them wherever you like, it's up to you !

Stage 6

Starting from the end of the arms onTickety's glasses draw two half oval shaped curves, inside of these curves draw the inner ear.

Stage 7

On the rim of Tickety's hat draw in his tufts of spikey hair.

Stage 8

Starting at the base of Tickety's left ear begin to draw the beard, draw a curve and at the tip of each point pull a tight curve back in again, continue this until you have drawn half of the beard ( about twice the size of Tickety's head and hat ), now do the same on the others side starting at Tickety's rights ear.

Stage 9

Starting just below Tickety's nose and slightly to the left start to draw his mouth, use a sweeping curve rising slightly upwards ( to just past the left side of his nose ).

Draw a deeper curve to form the bottom of his mouth and add a small curve to each side of the mouth to form cheek marks.

Add in a love heart shape inside the mouth to form Tickety's tongue.

Stage 10

We need to add texture to Tickety's beard so use a 'V' shaped movement to create his spikey beard tufts.

Stage 11

Just above Tickety's ears we need to start adding the tufts of hair that stick out again use the same technique we used for his beard.

Stage 12

Tickety's cape comes next, start at where Tickety's hair meets his beard and draw 3 arches on each side, from the end of these arches make a sweeping curve that meets half way down his beard ( again on both sides ).

Don't forget to draw in the sweeping curved lines from the base of each of the smaller curves ( See picture ).

Stage 13

Starting on the left side close to the top of the cape draw a slightly curved line down, (this should be on a level with the bottom of his beard), now draw 3 quite wide arches out to the left to form the folds of tickety's gown.

move your pencil back up to the top of the cape and curve a line again down to the crease of Tickety's arm, draw a small curve at the top of the cape to finish the left side ( see diagram ).

On the right side from the edge of the cape draw 6 arches, draw a curved line down to form the outside of Tickety's sleeve.

Stage 14

Starting with Tickety's left hand draw a curved shape follow this down and curve around to form his first finger ( See illustration ), Draw the flask sat on his hand, draw in his visible finger ends and the curve that makes up his sleeve.

Move across to his right hand, draw his finger pointing outwards, his thumb in a straight line and his other fingers curved under and behind.Finish off by drawing his sleeve.

Stage 15

Draw the sparkling bubbles fizzing in the flask, and draw lines jumping out and bubbles popping outside of the flask.

Stage 16

Draw in Tickety's sleeves and his body down to his belt, draw in the top of his belt ( see illustration ).

Stage 17

Draw in the lower part of Tickety's belt and add in the lines to make the rope look more realistic.

Stage 18

Extend Tickety's robe and gown down ( see illustration for length ).

Stage 19

Add in Tickety's curly shoes and draw in the bottom of his gown, add in the fabric lines.

Stage 20

Finally draw in the lightening flash at his right hand finger tip.

Stage 21

Name your picture.

Stage 22

Sign / initial your picture.

Stage 23

Hey presto you've drawn your first Tickety Boo !

Well done !
