Finding the Right Babysitter

Children Need to be #1
As a mother of 3 beautiful girls, I know how important it is to put them #1 in our life. This also needs to be true when looking for child care providers and babysitters. Usually, we can find someone close to us to watch for them when we are not around, but what if that becomes unavailable? Hopefully the information that I provide will help you in your search for a babysitter for the precious gifts in your lives.
The Right Babysitter For You
So, your thinking, what do I have to do to find a good babysitter for my children. For me the first thing to do is to put an ad in different resources that are made available to the public. Granted it could take awhile to get a response, but you get the chance to talk to prospective babysitters before you meet them. it is the option to pick and choose.
You need to decide the criteria and characteristics that you want in your babysitter. Keep in mind what age limit you are looking for. Will someone younger than 18 work for you maybe for a night out. Or, would you prefer someone older who would be able to watch them for longer periods of time. Other people prefer older babysitters that have already had children themselves. Do you need them to be able to cook? How about a vehicle? Some people like to have their babysitters be certified in CPR and first aid. All parents are different and it is up to you to decide what is right for your family.
Always take into consideration what time of day you will be needing the sitter the most. If you need them in the morning, will they be providing breakfast and getting everyone ready for school. If your children do not take the bus, will the babysitter be driving them to school and does their vehicle suit your standards for driving your babies. A lot of parents need babysitters in the evening. Once again, look for those who can cook and can drive.
I know for me, it was nice to find a babysitter that was willing to give baths and clean up the kitchen after dinner. I however worked late nights and this worked best for me. Some people prefer that they leave the bathing and the cleaning. It is all a personal preference and you need to do what is right for you.

the first step to finding a babysitter
When finding a babysitter use the best tool you have, your intuition. This can be done by looking at their profile on line. A lot of people get a gut feeling from what they can see and read. By seeing how the qualifications to take care of your children, it gives you the first inclination about what kind of babysitter they will be. Once you have read through and found a dozen or so that you like, it is time to call them up and chat with them about their values and morals. You will want to have a variety of different questions ready to ask the babysitter in question. There is never anyway of knowing what way the conversation will go, so it is better to be prepared. Dead silence on the phone is the worst and makes everyone uncomfortable. If the conversation has went well it might be a good idea to set up a meeting with them. A lot of parents choose not to do this in their home for safety reasons. If the meet doesn't go well you don't have to worry about being bothered again. It is also a good idea to have your children around for the initial meeting. For a babysitter to be great, you want to make sure that the children are comfortable around them and that the sitter is able to interact with your children. If they are able to interact while you are there, there is a better chance of getting a well qualified babysitter.

Don't Get Overwhelmed
Even though finding a babysitter can be a daunting task it does not have to be horrible. Remember that these are your children and you don't want to leave them with just anyone. One more tip, try and line up a few babysitters so that if one cannot make it, you will have a backup. Its good to have one full-time babysitter. Make sure to let the others know that it is a part-time basis so they know they can have other opportunities available to them as well. Remember to use resources that are convenient for you.
