How To Gain Muscle and Burn Fat

Can You Gain Muscle and Burn Fat Simultaneously?

Is it possible to gain muscle and burn fat at the same time?
It would make results appear much quicker when the road to a perfect body seems so long and your goals seem so far away.
Is it possible if you go about it the right way? Can you can gain muscle and burn fat simultaneously?

There are at least two ways to make it happen, or at least appear so.
You could follow the route of body builders and approach it in phases, or perform total body strength training to increase your metabolism and burn unwanted fat. This article will give a brief overview of these two methods.

Actually your body's ability to gain muscle and burn fat go hand in hand. When you increase your muscle mass you will automatically burn more fat since muscle increases your metabolism rate.

However, if you are on a fat-loss exercise routine while you are practicing a fat-loss diet, your body is not going to have the opportunity to build a lot of muscle. The building of muscle requires a higher calorie intake, especially of proteins, in order to build muscle.
Not only that, but your muscle-building activities will require more carbohydrates to fuel them than the typical diet allows.

Body builders are able to appear to gain muscle and burn fat at the same time because they approach it in phases.

This process is called "periodization" in body building parlance. When a body builder builds muscle their diets are substantially different than when they are working to lose fat.

These body builders will work for several months to gain mass, then will make a severe change in diet to reduce any remaining fat.

Although they were in fact burning some fat just by the increase in muscle, the focus on fat burning is a different stage in the process.

So while they are not really able to gain muscle and burn fat at the same time, the overall effect would appear so and the final result is they look great anyway.

One excellent approach is to undergo cardio training and combine it with total body strength training.
When you perform total body strength training you will be able to increase your metabolism rate, resulting in a higher metabolism rate. The higher metabolism will, of course, burn more fat.

Your total body strength workouts will focus on lighter weights with a higher number of reps. While that is not going to help you build massive muscle, it will increase your muscle tone so you'll look great when that layer of fat disappears.
