This is just a general guideline and I know it can be difficult to actually determine the average amount of calories you eat every day.

Weight training is one of the biggest things that people leave out when trying to get a six pack. This is because they believe that lifting heavy weights is only for building muscle. This is not true and in fact, weight training can also be a very effective fat burning tool.

When you lift weights, you tear your muscles and your body spends the next few days repairing these muscles while making them bigger and stronger. During this repairing process, your metabolism is running at high speed in order to get all the nutrients it needs to repair your muscles. And the faster your metabolism, the more fat you burn. So the more muscle you have, the higher your resting metabolic rate will be. The higher your resting metabolic rate is, the more fat you burn throughout the day...even while sleeping!

Your weight lifting routine should also be composed of high weight and low reps. The method of doing high reps and low weight is outdated and actually doesn't do much for burning fat or building muscle. So make sure you keep your workouts intense!
