How To Get Backlinks

Reciprocal linking is a very old-fashioned way of getting links. You simply contact aother webmasters, ideally those with websites in the same niche as yours, and ask them if they will link to you if you link to them.

Two-way links are not as effective as they once were but it can still be beneficial, particularly if you both own quality websites.

Forums are a great way to build backlinks but you have to make sure that the forums you join allow sig files. If they do then you can automatically leave a link to your website whenever you post on these forums.

These links are not necessarily the highest quality backlinks you can get but they are still better than nothing.

Directory submission is one of the easiest way to get backlinks because there are literally thousands of these directories online. Some are better than others of course. Most directories are completely free and will offer free one-way links that don't require a reciprocal link, but for the very best links you should look at some of the paid directories as well.

This is one of the most powerful ways of building backlinks. By creating a whole network of related websites, you can create your own backlinks at will. However ideally you should host each of these domains on a different server if you want maximum success, which can be quite expensive.

The great thing about articles is that with each one you write and submit, you can include a resource box where you can include links to your websites. So therefore the more articles you write and the more article directories you submit to, the more backlinks you will get.

If you have created a top quality website, then you may like to think about paying for press release submissions. A well-written press release can result in a huge surge of traffic to your site, plus of course you will also receive plenty of backlinks from the sites that pick up your press release.

Most blogs have 'nofollow' comments sections which means the search engines ignore these links, however you can still find plenty of 'dofollow' comments sections if you do your research. Plus even if they are 'nofollow', it can still be worthwhile because you can brand your name and increase the number of visitors to your site.

In the last couple of years social bookmarking has really taken off and is now an established method of building backlinks. It's ideally suited for blogs because you can bookmark your best blog posts, but you can still bookmark individual web pages if they provide good quality content. Just make sure you bookmark other people's websites as well and not just your own.

This is a dangerous method of building backlinks because search engines will punish any websites that they suspect are buying links. However it is undoubtedly one of the best ways of getting quality backlinks from websites with a high PageRank.

If you don't want to do this, then an equally good method is to offer to write a unique article for those quality websites that receive a lot of traffic. You can offer to do this for free in return for a link to your site.

As you can see there are lots of ways of getting backlinks to your websites. You should ideally mix up your backlink strategy and focus on varying your links as much as possible. This will get you the best results.
