When it comes to getting flat abs, you are going to have to know a few things that a lot of people do not know. I am going to let you know about why most people fail to lose belly fat, and have a really hard time achieving their ultimate goal to have flat abs, or even six pack abs.

The first thing that you need to understand is that exercises for the ab area will not burn any fat off of the mid section. The exercises are designed to build the muscles that are under that fat.

In order to see results, you are going to have to know what kind of diet to go on. This is where most people get stuck. It is known that most of the diet foods will actually hurt your chances of getting flat abs. They are full of artificial sweeteners and alcohol sugars that are shown to mess your hormones up and cause you to gain belly fat.

Instead, what you need to do is to go on a diet that is designed just for boosting the metabolism while you are doing flat ab exercises that are designed just for getting flat abs.

The most common misunderstanding is that people think that the more sit-ups they do, the more likely they are to get flat abs. This is not true. If you are doing 100 sit-ups per day without results, what makes you think that doing 200 per day will show any results? It won't.

Instead, focus on flat ab exercises like the air bicycle, hip-ups, standing squats, etc that target all of the ab muscles in the correct way that will show results the fastest. Despite common opinion, exercising your abs is NOT the most important thing you need to do to get flat abs. There are a couple of aspects which go into great abs: dedication, hard work, and good genes. Obviously, you have no control over your genes, so you may need even more dedication and hard work.

The only way that you can get flat abs is to lose body fat. No matter how much ab strength training you do (crunches, leg raises, etc), you will not get that six-pack. Getting that six-pack is a two part step - strength training for muscle definition (crunches, bicycle, sit-ups), and weight loss for visibility.
