How To Get Pregnant

Believe it or not, most women know more about how not to get pregnant than they do about how to get pregnant.  If you are like me, you spent so many years using birth control, always in fear that it may not work, that you actually assumed you would get pregnant pretty quickly once you stopped using it.  The reality is that it doesn't usually work that way.  Luckily there's help.

How To Get Pregnant

There is so much information on how to get pregnant all over the internet that it is hard to sift through it and make sense of it all. Especially when alot of this information is conflicting.

The truth is, the biggest mistake most couples make is that they don't get the timing right. This is the single most important thing you need to do if you want to get pregnant. Proper timing refers to figuring out when you are ovulating. Many women make the mistake of thinking that they ovulate on the 14th day of the month. In actuality, you can ovulate several days before or after this date and it is different for every woman. In addition, the day that you ovulate can vary from month to month, and is often affected by stress, illness or travel.

The reason it is so important to know precisely when you are ovulating, is because you are only fertile for the few days leading up to ovulation and possibly the day after you ovulate too. This is because sperm can live inside a woman's body for several days under the right conditions. The egg, on the other hand, generally disintegrates between 12 and 24 hours after it is released during ovulation.

This means that your chances of getting pregnant increase the more times you have sexual intercourse during the few days leading up to the day of ovulation. The more sperm that are present and waiting, the higher your odds of conception.

Having intercourse after you have already ovulated is like playing a game of catch-up. The sperm needs to get to the egg before it breaks down, which is much harder to do than if the sperm were already there waiting.

The best thing you can do to figure out how to get pregnant, is to get to know your cycle and determine when you will be ovulating. Then by timing intercourse during the "fertile window", you will maximize your chances of conception.

There are many ways to determine when you will be ovulating...you can get that information and much more there's help.
