3 Great Stomach Exercises

Many people are concerned about how to get rid of belly fat. The good news is that there are some stomach exercises to speed along the process. Some are better than others, including these few, which are good specifically for getting rid of belly fat.

These particular exercises are targeted at beginners, so give them a try if you are just starting out. Once you have mastered these, feel free to advance to something more challenging.

When doing these exercises, it is important to move slowly so as to maintain control and not allow momentum to take over.

1. Vertical Leg Crunch

This is a variation on the traditional crunch that focuses more specifically on reducing stomach fat. To begin this stomach exercise, first lie on your back on a flat surface, such as the floor. Use a mat or towel to cushion your spine. Put your hands behind your head, with elbows out far enough that they are out of sight. Now lift your legs straight up into the air, crossing your ankles and bending your knees slightly. Contract your abdominals and lift your shoulders, head and upper back up to about a thirty degree angle. Be aware of not lifting with your hands or leading with your head.

2. Hip Lift

You will need to stay on your back for this stomach exercise. Use a mat or towel to cushion your spine. Put your arms at your sides with palms facing up to the ceiling. Put your legs straight up in the air so that the soles of your feet are facing the ceiling and your legs make about a ninety degree angle with your torso. Keep your knees unbent and as straight as possible. Now, contract your ab muscles so that it feels like your belly button is being pulled toward your spine, while at the same time gently lifting your hips off the floor. Raise your hips to height of a few inches, keeping your legs extended straight upward. Hold this position, then slowly lower your hips back to the floor. Repeat for an entire set.

3. Long Arm Crunch

For this stomach exercise, remain on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat. Lie back and extend your arms straight back on the floor as though you are reaching above your head. Contract your abs and slowly lift your arms, head and shoulders off the floor to about a thirty degree angle. Hold it, then slowly lower your shoulders back to the floor. Repeat for an entire set. Be careful not to lead with your arms, keeping them straight and alongside your head.

As with any workout routine, be sure to consult a professional before beginning and always warm up properly to avoid injury.

4 Tips for People Who Hate To Exercise

A lot of people wouldn't consider exercising their favorite pastime. Some people downright hate exercising. However, exercising is a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle, and without it you definitely will not be able to lose weight. Even if you truly hate exercising, there are certain tips help you learn to love exercising.

1. Find exercises that you like to do.
You should work out all of your body, but if you absolutely hate doing one kind of exercise, then look for another to take its place. You don't have to do crunches to strengthen your core muscles. You don't have to do lunges to work out your lower body. You don't even have to run-you can replace it with cycling or swimming. Find the exercises you like to do and your workout will seem more enjoyable right away.

2. Find other activities you like to do.
For example, if you like working in your garden, try doing some exercising while raking or mow your yard by hand. If you enjoy the winter weather, you can try ice skating or sledding with friends. No matter what you like to do, you can find ways to get some exercise. With the invention of Wii and games like Dance Dance Revolution, you can even combine video games and exercise.

3. Find a training partner.
When you work out together, you can help one another stay motivated, even if you don't absolutely love exercising. With a partner, you can have fun as well, trying things like tennis or challenging one another to meet certain goals. Personnel trainers can also provide this for you, as well as show you new and fun exercises to help you avoid getting bored or feeling overwhelmed at the gym.

4. Take some classes.
Exercising classes are a great way to meet new people, learn new exercises, stay motivated, and above all, have fun. Most gyms offer low-cost or free exercise classes with membership or you can check out options at your local community center.

By making exercise fun, it won't seem like such a chore. Staying motivated if you hate exercising can be hard, but set goals and don't quit. You need to exercise as well as diet if you really want to lose weight.
