How to Get Rid of Mold on Studs
When buying our new foreclosed home we noticed mold on the walls of some of the rooms. After exposing the walls we found mold on the studs. How to get rid of mold on studs is what we needed to find out. Luckily the mold on the studs was not to serious so we just had to treat the mold and remove it.
However the mold on the basement studs was much more serious for the basement must have been wet for a very long time. For some of these studs we had to replace the entire studs cause they were in too bad of shape and the black mold was way into the wood.

How to Get Rid of Mold on Studs
We found that we could treat the mold on the studs that we found and do most of the work our selves.
Here is how to get rid of mold on studs. Remember this is for treating light mold issues not serious damaged studs with black mold penetrating far into the stud.
First we uncovered the drywall off of the wall. we carefully took out the insulating that was holding the moisture and bagged it. This insulation was heavily covered in black mold.
We then took our spray bottle with a bleach and water mixture and heavily sprayed the studs that were effected by mold.
After letting the stud dry for over 24 hours we then began carefully scraping the molded areas off of the studs. WE did not use a palm sander for we did not want these mold spores floating into the air and spreading around the entire house.
This was about all there was to it. Make sure that you thoroughly clean the area that you have been working in. Even though the mold can be dead it is still dangerous to breath the dead mold spores.
