Ukraine. $6 billion of foreign investment raised in 2011 - Bleyzer Foundation

According to preliminary estimates, foreign investment in Ukraine amounted to $5-6 billion, Oleh Ustenko, executive director of the Bleyzer Foundation, told a press conference.

"Last year we received foreign investment - there are still no final figures, but that's about $5-6 billion. We need to understand that the world situation is deteriorating, and competition for any financial resources is increasing dramatically," Ustenko said.
According to him, the principle of pragmatism began to dominate in the foreign policy of all states, so isolation is the biggest risk for Ukraine in international relations.

"The presence of the Prime Minister and President in Davos was necessary for the reason that we should show our creditors that the economic situation in Ukraine is under control, evidence to which is the desire of the Premier and the President to talk to the business community," the expert said.

According to the head of the State Agency for Investments and National Projects, Vladyslav Kaskiv, foreign direct investment in Ukraine totaled $7.5 billion.
