Some Quick Tips On How To Jump Higher In Basketball

type=textYou can't go to the gym for just one day, workout for a little bit, and expect to make big gains on your muscle strength or speed. However, there are ways to increase your vertical almost instantly. You can add several inches you your vertical leap by perfecting your technique. These techniques are recommended by professional vertical leap coach, Jacob Hillar, who has trained many NBA players and Olympic athletes on how to increase their verticals.

Let's face it, not all of us are blessed with a natural leaping ability. Most of us, myself included, have to work hard at improving our verticals so we can jump higher in basketball and throw down the dunks that we love so much. The fastest way to increase your vertical is to focus on your technique. Many people have received gains of 3-6 inches just by focusing on their jumping form!

Warm up
Warm up with stretches. This will allow proper blood flow and increase elasticity of muscles and joints. Warm muscles allow for full contraction.

Arm Drive
One of the most powerful ways to add height to your vertical leap is by perfecting your arm drive. Many athletes neglect this facet of the jump, but it is a crucial element. You want to shift as much of your momentum as possible in an upwards direction. Throwing your arms up will also help to push the knees and hips in the right direction.

Use All of Your Body
Don't make the mistake of thinking you can learn how to jump higher just by concentrating on your legs. It takes all of your body. Your lower back and your arms need to be in sync with your legs. Toes and legs need to be in alignment. Your body needs to be in sync to allow as much explosion as possible. If you want to know how to jump higher quickly, pay attention to the next four steps.

Don't Hesitate
Do not stop or slow down before take-off. Transfer the momentum upward without slowing down before jumping.

Amplify
Amplify the last step just before leaping into the air. It should be exaggerated, but not to the extent that it slows you down. This helps to set you up for the jump.

Be Quick
The synchronized movements must be done as quickly as possible. This will allow momentum to shift fluidly and allow for proper upward explosion.

Vizualize
Remember that if you think you can't increase vertical, then you won't. See yourself getting the air you want before you even take off. Don't overlook this technique, it is very powerful.

Flexibility
Don't forget to work on your flexibility. Flexibility will help to improve your form and muscle elasticity plays a role in your vertical leap.

If you work on your form along with your jumping exercises and flexibility, you will learn how to jump higher quickly. It will take some practice, but in the end you will jump higher in basketball and that's definitely worth it!
