It works, you know.
The first way to trap roaches is to make some live traps. Set up a bowl, smear the sides with petroleum jelly, and place some sort of bait inside. Place these traps in roach invested places, and wait for the roaches to crawl inside and get trapped. It's a little gross, but it can work well.
If you'd rather poison the roaches, you can always give the good old roach motels a try. These traps attract the roaches with bait and poisons them. These can work well, but you need a lot of them, and you also need to watch where you place them. Putting them near edges, dark corners, and other spots usually works well.
Boric acid is another method that can work well. Boric acid scratches the shell of the roach, causing it to get dehydrated and die. This works very well. Place the boric acid powder in dark edges in corners, all over your house. The more of it there is, the greater chance of the roaches finding it. This isn't the time to be conservative. If all goes well, a roach apocalypse will occur, and the roaches should start dieing all over your house (fun!). You may need a broom.
So, thats a basic summary of how you can kill roaches yourself. Next, we'll talk about how you can kill roaches without doing much work, using any chemicals, or calling in the exterminator.

Kill Roaches, Naturally!
It Can Be Easy
Ok, so this won't work for everyone, but I'd like to tell you about how you can kill roaches without doing much work. What if you could have all the roaches in your house methodically stalked, hunted, and killed, without your intervention? This is exactly what a cat will do for you.Yes, cats are natural hunters, and this certainly applies to insects in addition to rodents. A cat will playful hunt down and kill roaches, making them the natural way to exterminate.
Of course, this doesn't happen instantly. If you get a cat, it will take a while before it will start to find and kill all your roaches. However, you can talk to many cat owners, and they'll tell you that they haven't seen any bugs in their house since getting a cat. They are quite effective.
Also, keep in mind that none of this is intended to make you go out and get a cat if you don't really want one. Be sure that you want and can properly take care of a cat before getting one. Otherwise, you won't give it the care and respect it deserves.
If you do decide to get a cat, though, you'll find that they make excellent natural exterminators. They're also a lot of fun to play with, as well, which makes it a win win. Give it a thought.

Calling In The Pros
Sometimes, You Just Need Help
The first thing to do is to make sure you're looking local. A local exterminator will have a lot more experience in killing your local roaches (they're not all the same, you know). You'll also get more personal service much of the time, which is always nice.
When it comes to getting the best roach exterminator, though, nothing beats word of mouth. Ask your friends about their experiences with extermination, to find out who does a good job. If you can't find anyone you know, at least try to find some online reviews to help you make your decision.
Once the exterminator arrives, you'll need to follow his instructions carefully to avoid chemical contamination. You shouldn't be too worried, but if you have small children or babies, you'll need to know what's safe and what isn't
After the extermination, you'll probably start to see a lot of dead roaches around, which is unpleasant, but good. Just sweep them up, throw them away, and enjoy your new roach free existence (that is, until they find their way back...)
