Step 1 - Ingredients!
1 tsp vanilla1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup milk
mixed colored candies
1 cup walnuts chopped
5 1/4 oz chocolate pudding
1 lb powdered sugar
20 marshmellows
5 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
Step 2 - melting chocolate
Melt your chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. If using a microwave, melt for one minute on half power and stir. Then, mush and mix the chocolate up with a spoon so that it is heated evenly. Repeat this until all the chocolate has melted.Step 3 - Egg molding
Fill your egg mold with the melted chocolate. You can use the plastic eggs available during the Easter season, or you can use gelatin molds or deviled egg holders as well. Be sure not to over-fill the mold and allow the chocolate Easter eggs to set thoroughly. Separate your egg-halves from the mold and paint each one with melted chocolate. Hold the two sides together and allow to set in the refrigerator. You can put them back into the plastic egg and secure the egg with a rubber band to help them stabilize them.Melted chocolate painted on each half of your egg will act as glue to secure them together. If the painted chocolate is not creating a strong enough hold, run a fork across the each half to create trenches where the melted chocolate can adhere. This will strengthen the bond.
Step 4 - decorating!
Remove the eggs from the refrigerator and decorate. Pipe the chocolate Easter eggs with frosting or add any cake or candy decorations that please you. Be gentle with the eggs as they are fragile. Piping frosting over the seam will help strengthen the chocolate Easter egg.Continue this process until you've created as many chocolate Easter eggs as you think you can eat or give away. Feel free to individualize each one with the colors, candy or frosting that you use.
