How To Make Your Own Solar Power

Are you interested in knowing how to make your own solar power?

With ever rising power prices many people are turning to solar power as the solution.

However solar power is NOT the cheap option that some plans make out. It will cost you. Make no mistake there!

It is much cheaper to install solar power into a house during the construction stage than into an existing home.

Explore a few of the options I present below. They'll guide you on quest to make your own solar power.

Remember this!

Houses don't use electricity, people do!

If you take away only one point, that is probably the most important thing.

YOU control the amount of power used, not your house.

Solar powered cabin for under $700!

Yee-ha!!

You can learn all about the building of this beautiful wee cabin at OtherPower.

There are several reasons why the solar power conversion of this cabin was so cheap.

  • The owner planned it fully before he began building.
  • He lives conservatively as far as energy goes.
  • And it is a small cabin. You could not power a typical house in suburbia this cheaply.

The battery bank consists of 4 golf cart batteries! Got to love it, don't you!

The cost of conversion

The design, size and cost of a solar photovoltaic power system for your home depends on only a few simple factors:

  • How much energy in kilowatt-hours (kwh) do you use per month, and how much does it cost you?
  • What can you do to reduce your energy usage, and how much will that cost you? (Every dollar spent on conservation will save you $3-$5 on the cost of an renewable energy power system).
  • What solar resource do you have available at your location?
