How To Join MySpace
There's a light blue "SignUp!" tab right above the member login box on the MySpace home page. Let me make it easy on you. Here's the link directly to the MySpace signup page.Fill in the requested form information and submit. You will then need to type in a code to confirm that you are a person creating the account and not a program. If you have a photo ready, you can upload your photo on the next page. Don't worry, you can "skip for now" and add it later. MySpace will ask you to invite your friends. If you want to, go ahead and send them an email. Otherwise, you can "skip for now" on this one too.
Your MySpace account has now been created, but you can't use it for much until you confirm your email address. Go to the email account that you registered with and find your MySpace confirmation email. Click the link in that email and you're good to go.
How To Customize Your MySpace Layout
Add backgrounds, contact tables, headers, banners, cursors, etc.
There are currently thousands of websites that offer free MySpace layouts. (See links below.) Go hunting until you find something you like. Or look for the link on your favorite MySpace page to where they got their layout.Once you find a layout that you like, copy & paste the layout code into the "about me" section of your profile.
If you don't find something absolutely perfect for you and you want to customize even further, you can use a MySpace Layout Generator. It will let you pick and choose each individual piece of your MySpace page, then generate the code for you.
I made my "ladybug" layout with the Pimp-My-Profile layout generator. I chose each of my own graphics, colors and texts separately and the generator put the code together for me. I love it!
How to Add Music to MySpace
Click on the "music" link, put in some keywords to search or browse the directory. Visit the profiles for different bands until you find a song you like. Then just click on the "add" link next to the song of your choice. MySpace will confirm that you want to add it to your profile. Click on "add song to profile" and you're done. The music box will automatically appear on your profile page.OR
If you find a song on someone else's page you like and you want it on yours, click the "+" on their music box to add it to your profile.
OR
Add an entire play list. I use a free account at playlist.com to generate a list of songs that I like and they generate the code for me to put on my page. You can add it to the music section of your profile or anywhere else that accepts code. (If you choose this option, make sure you edit your profile using the song & video tab to remove any current music you have on your page. That way you won't have two songs playing at once.)
