I know success can be measured in many ways, but for me it's fairly simple. I just want to have a business that pays me enough to pay all of my bills and still leave enough to have some fun with. It must be something that not only consistently brings in a minimum income that will allow me to do this, but have the potential to grow. For me right now, at least $1,500 USD a month would allow me to accomplish this goal. The catch to this is that I would need to be able to bring in at least this much income every single month, regardless of whether or not I work each day. So I guess what I'm really aiming for is residual income.

Sure there are plenty of people with regular jobs that earn this much and even more, but what happens to their earnings if for some reason they are unable to work for a few days, weeks, or even months? I don't want my ability to work for an hourly wage or even a salary to affect the amount of money I can make or when I can make it.

I am taking steps towards this goal right now, but as with everything worth doing, it will take much work and effort on my part.

Direct marketing could be set for growth in 2010

Direct marketing is set to become more popular during 2010, if marketers are prepared to "spread their wings" and branch out into new practices, it has been claimed.

According to an article from Target Marketing Magazine, the recent white paper - entitled Direct Marketing Trends for 2010 - shows that this coming year could present good opportunities for US marketers.

The magazine highlights three primary areas in which improvement and efficiency can be achieved.

Improved data quality from list content is set to play a key role in the outcome of any campaign this year, with early indications showing that more information will be contained within data fields helping to refine marketing efforts.

In addition, multichannel campaigns are likely to be popular, with print marketing products being combined with personalized URLs and landing pages.

Finally, e-mail will come to the forefront, helping to compliment direct mail campaigns.

This news comes after the Magna Global Forecasting and Analysis paper predicted that direct mail would continue to be popular during the coming year.

Work is busy, life is busy. But this is quite an important goal which I need to make time for. I'm touched to have had offers of support from friends with various aspects of my business implementing. It's just up to me now, to get moving.
Instead of going out tonight, I'm staying in and working on my business plan.

Direct marketing is a sub-discipline and type of marketing. There are two main definitional characteristics which distinguish it from other types of marketing.
