Welcome to How to Play Bass Guitar
This lens is dedicated to learning how to play bass guitar. When I was in fourth grade, I had the opportunity to join the orchestra. As I was trying to decide which instrument to play, my teacher told me the learning how to play the bass guitar was a great way to get to play in a band. Well that is all I needed to hear. I mean what kid doesn't want to play in a band.
While this might not have been the best reason or most informed way of deciding which instrument to play, it turns out that my teach was absolutely right. Learning how to play bass guitar is one of the best ways of being able to play in a band. Whether you are interested in rock music, jazz music, or any genre, every band needs a bassist and there aren't that many out there.
Therefore, if you are interested in learning how to play the bass guitar, I think that you are really in for a great time. The bass is an awesome instrument to play and is highly in demand. While all your friends are playing the guitar, you will be able to stand out in the crowd.

How To Hold Bass Guitar
One of the first things that you have to learn when learning the bass guitar is how to hold the bass guitar.Use the bass guitar strap -
This is lesson number one. You need to use the bass guitar strap. It is important that you get used to this because you will want to play the bass standing up at some point in your career and getting used to the strap is very important.
Sit up straight -
Sit straight up in your chair or stand up nice and straight. It is important that you have good posture otherwise you will hurt your back.
Hold bass guitar neck up -
Hold the neck up at around a 25 degree angle. This will put the bass in the proper angle for you fingers on the bass frets and it will allow you to strum the strings smoothly.
