Tips and Pointers on How to Play Keyboard Online

Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to learn how to play keyboard online. Maybe you love music, and simply want to learn to play songs for fun. Or perhaps you have always admired anyone who was able to play a musical instrument, and wished you could play one as well. Choosing the keyboard or piano is a wise choice, since it is relatively easy to learn if you have a basic knowledge of music. Perhaps you have even dreamed of becoming an expert pianist. Whatever your reason, I am sure it is a good one! Thanks to internet, people from all over the world, rich or poor, now have a chance to learn all the basic and advanced techniques of learning to play keyboard online.

There are lots of piano and/or keyboard lessons available online. Some lessons are free, and there are also resources where you can buy and own your own lessons. When browsing the internet for piano and/or keyboard lessons, it is a good idea to check out the free keyboard lessons first. That will help you decide what you are looking for,and you can compare them with what you find in paid keyboard lessons. If you feel that the free lessons are too basic,or not complete, then that is the time to choose from amongst the paid piano and/or keyboard lessons online.

When you go for paid keyboard lessons online, you will find that it is still much cheaper than hiring a professional piano teacher. When you want to learn to play the keyboard online, you will need a home computer and, of course, a fast internet connection. You will also need to have certain programs and/or tools downloaded on your computer so that you can watch the videos. Something like Flashplayer, Realplayer, or Adobe Reader. If you have watched videos on your computer before, it is likely that you already have the programs you need installed on your computer. If there is a problem with downloading the lessons to your computer, often a message will pop up, telling you which program you need.

The best thing about learning how to play keyboard online, is that you can do it at any time of the day or night. If you're working, you can have the lessons right after your work or even after dinner. Staying at home also involves doing a lot of chores, so you can have your lessons after you're done and when you're already relaxed. Another is that you can learn alone or you can have your family join you. And whether you choose free or paid lessons, if you download them to your computer, you can go back to the same material again and again, and others in your family can use the same lessons to learn to play keyboard online as well.

One important question, do you have a keyboard at home? Since you'll be getting your lessons through the internet, you'll need to have a keyboard at home. If you don't have one yet, then get one. There are lots of different models and sizes available, as well as different price categories. And make sure you have all the accessories you will need, like the proper cords, a stand, etc. You can check out the keyboards and accessories below, which are all Amazon products. Learning to play the keyboard can get expensive, but if you have the passion for playing this instrument, it's worth every penny.

Go on and pursue your dream of learning to play the keyboard. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it! You might discover that not all people have the capacity and ability to play this instrument. But overall, this is not one of the more difficult ones to play. If you're determined to learn, pursue your passion, and work hard, after several years you will be playing beautifully. You will have learned many songs and techniques. The single, most important thing to remember, is this, Practice, Practice, Practice! At least a few times a week, daily is even better. The more often you practice, the faster you will learn.

@ogrote, thank you for commenting.... I also love piano music. I am strangely at awe when I watch someone else play, and their fingers just move so perfectly...

I always wished my mom made me take piano lessons. It seems like such a wonderful talent to have, in capacity or genius. I am so going to make my kids pick an instrument that isn't drums (oog not in the houuse!) and take it during their childhood.

This lens is very informative! I believe that playing an Instrument is a very good thing to start learning early but even if you have not learning something now is just as important.
I really enjoyed reading this lens I do plan on returning to watch the videos.

You've got a well written lens here, Kudo's! I retired from my job as church organist last summer after 32 years! I had a music teacher that I went to every week and that was the way I learned. I've played many wedding, but no funerals....and I have to admit, I never even knew you could learn to play keyword online! what a HUGE change since I learned! I started out with a take home keyboard I would set up in my bedroom, then was able to get a used organ from a family friend who had passed away - it is truly an amazing "hobby" I guess you could say - it's a very rewarding experience in my opinion.

Thank you for sharing - I love music, especially organ music! Funny, when I play my keyboard, the type of music I play most often, is with the organ music button! That's one of the reasons a keyboard is so cool, it has so many options for different sounds. One of my favorite background music buttons is 'Bluegrass'. Amazing Grace sounds really nice with organ music and bluegrass background music!

Excellent information! I especially like all of the keyboards that are listed here. I've been meaning to get a keyboard for my studio space and this is helping me figure it out! and of course you know my favorite instrument is the guitar ;) - but I started on piano and it's an essential instrument to learn music on.
  • mini100 Oct 21, 2011 @ 4:30 pm | delete
Thank you for stopping by! I want to learn the guitar next, for now I am still working on improving my keyboard playing! When I learn a new song, I always start on basic keys, then move to adding extras like background music. Lots of fun experimenting!

Nice lens. Well done for a new squid's first effort.
  • mini100 May 30, 2011 @ 11:34 am | delete
Thank you! I really am a newbie as far as Squidoo is concerned! I can see that it has a lot of potential, and I like how customizable it is.

Amazon Spotlight Personal Review

Yamaha YPT-320 61 Key Personal Keyboard with AC Adapter, Deluxe Keyboard Stand and Professional Headphones

Amazon Price: $189.99 (as of 06/01/2012)Buy Now

This Yamaha Keyboard is a great buy on Amazon, almost half the price it is to buy it elsewhere. It is big enough to play anything you wish, and small enough to move easily.

It is for the keyboardist who is serious about playing keyboard, not for the faint-hearted! While this may not be a beginners keyboard, it is a top-quality upgrade after you are ready for something larger than a beginners board.
