William Talman Anti-Smoking Ad 1968

This was the first of the celebrity "don't smoke" appeals. Bill Talman played the DA on "Perry Mason" and was under very heavy medication at the time this was filmed (six weeks before his death), The ad didn't even start running until after his death, so the effect was even more profound.

Quit smoking advice from an ex-smoker

This man smoked for 30 years almost non-stop, then quit

This man smoked for 30 years almost non-stop, then one day decided to quit. Here he tells you the myths that smokers believe and how to quit smoking.

Quit Smoking Advice

These clips are from the BBC: Horizon documentary series entitled "We Love Cigarettes". The advice Allen Carr gives is pretty damn good, it convinced me (a 5 year smoker) to quit cold turkey. It has been a couple months now and I'm still going strong. Update: It has been over one year since my last cigarette and I have never been tempted to look back. I really hope this simple advice has helped someone else.

This is an excellent lens. I have been looking for a credible site to help me put this nasty habit to rest.
I watched your videos and they were very helpful too.

Very important information here. Like Phil, I also found that by keeping cigarettes in the house I was able to quit but when there was none I would go in a panic.

    Hi Carol,

I quit tobacco products about 6 years ago. It is up there on my list of most difficult things to do. Every time I would throw out my tobacco I'd go into a serious panic. Many times found myself driving to the store in the middle of the night.

What finally worked for me was to keep the tobacco nearby. I'd tell myself I could have some whenever I wanted but I'll just put it off awhile. Eventually the little whiles turned into a very long time.
